The Training-How hard is it, really?

I'm going to the summer seminar, and i'm jw if i'm ready for the "really hard training" everyone says haha

what is it like? is it extremelyyy tiring?

When did you get your invitation, and waht session are you attending?

When i went to the Seminar last year, during that mini Sea Trials, was the first time ever that i had sweat in my eyes. Calling it tiring is an understatement. Its more like exhausting. I was also in good shape, i set a record for the most pushups (120) and the fastest shuttle run in the seminar.

Kind of depends. I was in really good shape (could run 3 miles easy), so the running wasn't any kind of big deal. The most we ever ran was 2 miles or so in the mornings. However, if you're not used to Annapolis summers, then it might be harder. I'm from Alabama, so I'm used to those hot, humid summer days. The hardest part for me was the push-ups when the ex-SEAL came to do PEP in the mornings. We did hundreds, and it got to the point where I couldn't even push-up. I'm not bad at pushups--I was able to do 80 for the PRT (I'm a girl)--but it was pretty hard.

Sea Trials was rather tiring just because you're already exhausted from staying up late and getting up early. A lot of people were sore from doing all the push-ups and stuff. I didn't think it was that bad, except for the Endurance Course and the swimming part. I'm not that great of a swimmer, so I thought I was going to DIE. At one point, you have to dive down really deep several times, and when I came up I was gasping so hard they thought I was in serious trouble! Anyways, we ended up having to tread water for 15 minutes without touching the sides, and that was really hard for me.

The Endurance Course was hard. It just was. The obstacles weren't bad, it was just the running up and down these HUGE wet clay covered hills.

I have a 20 page computer typed story of Summer Seminar that I wrote immediately upon coming back that I'm trying to find... If I do, I'll tell you guys so you can see in detail what it was like.

Hey Marines! Yeah, send your paper if you can find it. It would be fun to compare notes. And, congrats on your LOA! I know you've decided to go West Point, so good luck to you. GO NAVY!

marines, I went to USAFA's summer seminar, and I also wrote about 20 pages the day I came back! hehe, glad to know I wasn't the only one who had a lot to say about the summer program. :)

Why thank you, Navygirl! I certainly felt vindicated when I got the letter. But, I have to say... GO ARMY!! hahah

Vampie, it was definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had! I probably could have written 40 pages!!

zero: i got my invitation like 3 days ago, i'm attending session 1

100 push ups a day!!!???
that is crazy!!!!
i can't even do 30 (at one time).
i can run and swim tho

i just can't do "strength"

..am i gonna die there?

Chanman...where are u from in STL....I'm from Kirkwood.

wildwood..go to eureka high school. whawt school u go to?

chanman, you are not gonna die... but you should try to get more pushups. i went from being able to do 20 straight to 35 straight in a month by doing build ups (do one, go to your knees and reach up once, do two, reach up twice... up to 10/as many as you can). i just did a set every night before i went to bed, and now my max is 175% of what it was before. talk about results. anyway, congrats on getting into nass and good luck.

Another way to buildup is by doing your max every night for about 3-4 days. On the 4th or 5th day, do 5 more than your max. I've built up from being able to do 40 to being able to do 80.

i do about 500 pushups every monday, wednesday, and friday.

Kirkwood High School

o crappp..
i found out that they need perfect vision to be in the seminar

i wear glasses (and contacts)
is that ok? (to wear contacts during training)

what are my chances of being accepted to sessions two or three, if i applied march 1st and have not recieved an invitation to session 1?
ZN

chanman
you do not need perfect vision to attend seminar. My daughter wore her contacts for everything except the water "sports" and did fine.

hahahha, that was a trip! Going off the 10 meter (I think it was 10 m) high dive blind as a bat! Not fun at all. I had to hold the person in front of me going up those stairs...

What???
high dive???
what is that?
i cant dive!!!

lol, you don't have to dive off. They have you put both hands across your chest, touching your shoulders. Then, you cross your legs together, and step off. I was a little intimidated when they mentioned how simple it would be to literally rip a leg off if your legs ended up spreading... :) I didn't scream like some people on the way down, but I definitely let out a yelp!
