I am a bit stumped over this essay for one primary reason. This may, to some of you, seem silly, but the real reason I am transferring schools is not necessarily from the educational experience. I am making a lateral transfer -- not to a better school or a worse school, but a similar one (perhaps some would say not even as good). I'm transferring because of the social and cultural atmosphere at the school. How do I convey this to colleges in the main CA essay? It seems pretty academic specific and academics are not at all the real reason for my transfer. I want a change of school/student body atmosphere, not of majors/minors or academic opportunity

explain why you’ll thrive in the new environment more / try to link it to academic and why you’ll preform better.

bump

I definitely think that you should be honest about your reasons for transferring but as @bomerr said, you should link it to academics or something. Maybe that your current school’s social / cultural atmosphere is impeding your enthusiasm for getting involved on campus?
