Anyone have any tips on getting off of this thing? Wesleyan U.

I didn't even know there was such a thing. I'm still waiting on an answer from NYU

it's possible to get off of a waitlist, esp. since most people won't go on a transfer waitlist. but don't get your hopes up

im trying to get off of a waitlist too...ughhh.

im doing everything i can...extra letters, transcript....

Just a little story... last year i had a friend who was at dartmouth and got waitlisted at harvard. he got off, so do not fret

thanks phoenix, thats really encouraging.

i hope BC looks me over...it also must depend on how many are waitlisted but good luck everyone.

samusa, i would definitely tell them you're interested in going regardless of other acceptances.

I just wrote a one page letter. Think I should send ?

yes definately. I'd send it to reinforce my desire of attending that school.

send it!! do anything to help your chances even if it seems kinda lame.

i feel like it is a strong letter. ps definitely, not ately.

hell ill send it

Hey, I know that nobody has posted anything up here for a while, but I am on the waitlist for the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown and I'm desperately trying to think of ways to improve my chances to be one of the few, if any, people taken off of that list. I'm going to send in my most recent college grades (which were better than my mid-year grades) and a letter explaining how much I really want to go to GU, but I not really sure what else to do...I'm very interested in photography, so I've thought about sending in some of my best photographs, but since I'm not planning to major or minor in photography I don't know if it's revevant or if it will just be too much. If anyone has an opinion or any info on getting accepted from a transfer waitlist, please let me know.

I had a teacher who adored me call and rave about me. We'll see how well it works in a week when I find out if I get off the waitlist.

whatever you all decide to do .... at least do something!!!!!

My girlfriend was crushed when she got waitlisted at Cornell. I kept on encouraging her to write a letter to Cornell, and since it was the architecture school to send in extra portfolio stuff....anything!!! She did, but settled for her 2nd choice of Syracuse University. A few months later she got a nice phone call from Cornell saying she was accepted off of the waitlist!! After visiting Cornell again and deciding to attend, she spoke with the dean of admissions at the architecture school who said that their waitlisted students are considered again only if they send in supplementary materials. Had she not sent anything in, she would not have been accepted.

The point of the story: by all means, send letters, transcripts, anything in! And good luck!

i am on 2 transfer waitlists!! that is some good advice - thanks guys.

just a note samusa--not that this will have any potential effect, but i'll be leaving wes, so maybe they'll go to the waitlist (i'm rooting for you)

(and for background, i absolutely loved wes and will be so sad to leave, so it's nothing against the school per se, they were just terrible with ADA compliance and disabled accessability)

but I'm wishing you luck! (and if you have any q's, i'm available)
annie

I'd like to bump up this thread too. I've sent in letters of recommendation, and a personal letter indicating my desire to go. Any other ideas?

just trying to get this thread to resurrect after three years of being dormant.

waitlisted transfer applicants--let's unite.

I got waitlisted at Dartmouth... although it seems to me that Dartmouth waitlisted quite a number of applicants this year...

Anyone know how many transfers were waitlisted at BC this year (2008)?

I got three waitlists.... -______- hopefully I can get off one of them :) Sent some updates and a letter to them... and now praying praying :D
