If you still haven't realized Rich Rodriguez is a dumb hick, yesterday's game should have convinced you.

With 22 seconds left in the half, he hesitated on calling the time out, then called a timeout with 12 seconds left. Result? Odoms caught the ball with 3 seconds left in FG range. Had he called the timeout 10 seconds earlier, we would have had 13 seconds left to run 2 play plus FG and might not have to resort to the disgusting thing known as Michigan's kicking game.

Question: How do you explain the decision to punt there with six minutes to go, you’re down 17?

Coach Rodriguez: “Yeah it was probably a mistake. I thought we would get a quick turn around and maybe get a minute and half, two minutes off the clock and have it. We did get the stop and then we run into the punter and give them the first down again. If I had do-overs, I wouldn’t punt. I was trying to get their attention then, but it was too late and it was my fault.

Maybe they don't do math in the coal mines but let me do it for you dumb rod. Assuming you get a 3 and out, you get the ball back for the first time with 4 minutes left. Assuming you score a TD within 1 minute (which is hard either way), you are left with 3 minutes. They get the ball back. We use our 3 time outs and pray to god that we get a 3 and out., now you are left with around 2.5 minutes. Now you need to score a TD, recover an onside kick, and then drive to FG range, make a FG within 2.5 minutes without a TO.

Really leave you with 2 options if you punt in that situation.
Option 1: Create 2 one-minute scoring drives, Defense makes 2 consecutive 3 and outs, we recover an onside kick and drive the ball to FG range. We make a FG....yea..... like that's gonna happen since it didnt happen all game

Option 2: One 3 and out (4 minutes left), then drive the field within 1.5 minute, then onside kick, then drive the field within 1.5 minute, then onside kick, then drive to FG range within 1 minute... If the probability of recovering an onside kick is 20%, we are looking at a .2*.2 = <5% success rate just on the onside kicks....
