do you have a source?

Just ask anybody lol. No, I don’t have a source - I haven’t been admitted to UCLA yet to show you a provisional contact.

That said, janethedoe, was admitted to UCLA last year as a transfer, and she can tell you (even show you her provisional contract) that states the requirements for maintaining admission. Seriously, just ask her :p.

Also, are you in jeopardy of having your GPA falling this semester?

i cant tell if the part about asking janethedoe is sarcasm, but thats a good one.

there’s a slight possibility i fall under 3.0 as I’m only taking 3 classes this semester and one of them is calculus 2 which im getting a C in.

No, I’m not using sarcasm. She actually was admitted to UCLA last year, but her admission was rescinded due to a drop in GPA. I’m being serious when I’m saying you should ask her, considering that she did experience getting rescinded, herself.

Oh ok, I see why you’d be concerned. I get that. Yeah, generally speaking, and barring weird exceptions or outliers, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA+ for your last semester with no D’s of F’s. Check with janethedoe or just look up this sort of thing on google.

Sometimes there will be prov. contracts that are unique to the applicant (normally for those that have MANY prereqs to complete or IP). Like I said though, 3.0+ this semester with no D’s or F’s is the norm.

emilsinclair9- 1netruesole has been ■■■■■■■■ me that is why he/she thinks your being sarcastic.

i would love to help out 1netruesole but this person has been to hostile towards me.

i am a nice girl though so you can PM any questions you have and i will try to answer.

The ucla rep that goes to my schoOl every now and then says this: “don’t try to impress us with extracurriculars, the one thing were looking for is good academics” (I assume that means high gpa

is this good advice?

“How important is completing 60 transferable units really? In my case I focused only on what I needed (prereqs, IGETC) and I will still be 3 units short. However, I still got into UCI and UCSB. Will this affect my UCLA & UCB admissions???”

Possibly. You have a high GPA though, and perhaps you applied for a less impacted major, so you never, ever know… right? You can’t do nothing but hope at this point. And start figuring whether UCI or UCSB is a choice to go when your hope dies.

I kid, I kid… :P

“The ucla rep that goes to my schoOl every now and then says this: “don’t try to impress us with extracurriculars, the one thing were looking for is good academics” (I assume that means high gpa”

Yes. Why would you not listen to what the rep says? I do think work experience and the like does matter to them, but you don’t need to be involved in clubs or anything, REALLY. Honestly, from my very unscientific evidence based on people I know who transferred from CCS, TAP doesn’t even mean ****.

Questions for Ari, or anyone else with reliable answers.

I’m attending a ELAC in the fall and my goal is to transfer to UCLA and major in Biology. However, my question is, what exact classes am i suppose to take to transfer to UCLA? Is there a list of classes i can get from UCLA’s campus or website? My second question is, if i do well at ELAC academically, say at least a 3.8-4.0 GPA or above, how high are my chances of getting into UCLA?

Your chances are high -> great with that GPA going into Biology. However, I’m not sure I am clear on what an ELAC is. Is this the same as an LAC? Sorry, most of us are comm. college transfers :p. However, a 3.8+ in bio is excellent, and you would likely be admitted to UCLA.

East Los Angeles College.

LAC

Los Angeles College

so yes hahaha its a LAC as well.
its part of the LACCD.

hahaha when I think of LAC I think of “Liberal Arts College” :). oops my bad. That’s what I get for being from the Bay. Considering your ELAC is a comm. college, then you’re 90%+ in with that GPA.

when will UCLA post transfer decisions most likely? When does “late April” usually mean? Has anyone heard back yet?

^
See threads below! No one is really sure, but it’s getting close!

I got into the UCLA Comm program with a 3.83 and still waiting on UCB and UCSD…but am so excited about going to UCLA…baby

If I am transferring from UCSD to UCLA, do I still have to fulfill the requirements of:

Complete Coursework Requirements
Complete the following course pattern with C grades or better: two [2] transferable courses in English composition; one [1] transferable course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning; four [4] transferable courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, physical and biological sciences by June 2010.

or do I ignore that and do the UC reciprocity instead? (finish my GEs here first before transferring)

Thanks!

I got into UCLA as an English major. I am taking my last prerequisite class on a pass/no pass basis. If I don’t pass this class will my admission be rescinded even if it won’t affect my GPA? I’m afraid I already know the answer to this question but I’d like to confirm my suspicion.

part of the acceptance pack has a sheet with stats on it. on that paper the fees are listed& it says that the health insurance fee can be waived…anybody know about this?

Is it true that if you go to UCLA you see a lot of celebrities and stuff?

yeah. i saw one on campus…the guy from rudy…whats the name of that hobbit? idk

they are seriously all over L.A. if you wanna see them go to the hotspots

Does anyone know what’s the worst thing that could happen if I could not make it to the Summer Orientation?
