I noticed that all the UCs’ acceptance rates substantially went up this year. Take for instance UCI and UCD. They went up at least 6-7%. Same goes for UCLA and perhaps the other ones when they are updated. Why do you think this is? Does this mean the pool this year is much more prepared or qualified?

really? how do you know? I would think the rates dropped because there were more applicants this year than last year

That's what I thought too but collegeboard proved me wrong. I had thought UCD's acceptance rate dropped 5% but apparently not so on collegeboard. Haha maybe that's why! There are a lot more applicants this year?

collegeboard is only measuring last year's. they have not been able to get the rates this year.

really? i remember seeing UCD and UCI at 53-55% last night and suddenly this morning it went up to 60ish. i'm just curious what could be the factors that the rates went up.

Part of the governor's plan calling for an additional 5000 students every year to be admitted, perhaps.

where u get this news? source?

I wouldn't trust any data this early in the game that doesn't come directly from the UC system! Bookmark these websites for the most up-to-date data available. I don't notice any 2006 admissions data yet.

UC Student/Workforce Data

Preliminary data
Each year, UC releases preliminary data on undergraduate applications (usually in January) and admissions (usually in April). The data released at these points in the 2000-06 admissions cycles are provided below. The data often change somewhat after their preliminary release. The preliminary data tables, however, may be useful in that they provide breakdowns by gender, geographic region and other criteria not displayed in the final summary table.
