The Ultimate Supply List for Boarding School

boarderkid - i’ve never heard of people doing this at my bs

Alright. I wonder why not, though…perhaps because there are just too many clothes?

Bring a camera

I think I read somewhere that you have to list all the clothes you own on some form - so maybe that’s how they prevent sharing the service?

Also, its gross.

Do any of the schools require ‘green’ cleaning supplies?

as for room decor, all i’m buying beforehand is a poster or two, linens, and organizational supplies. everything else i’m buying when i get there

Me too, Izzy. Most of what I’m buying beforehand will be clothes and basic needs (towels, linens, toiletries, bedding). Plastic storage will be a maybe, because I can pack in them then use them in the room. Since I may be put in a temporary room during preseason, there’s no need for me to have all the extra stuff right then.

Where did all the posts go?

you don’t need a lot of decorations because you’ll amass them as the school year goes on. a couple posters is good at the beginning. also, it’s hard to know exactly what to bring until you know what your room is like and what your roommate(s) are like, if you have any.

other than that, this list looks pretty good! bring an extra blanket for sitting outside at doing work

oragnization, organization, organization! you will have a small amount of space to work with! some ideas:

I didn’t read to the whole thread, but I was told at Exeter longboards, razor scooters, and bikes are a popular and easy way to get around campus.

yeah scooters, bikes, and skateboards are good for getting around especially on a big campus and especially if it’s cold but not snowy. and if your school is a couple miles from a town center or something then you can ride your bike there.

ipod+ speakers and a stereo? are people bring both or just one?
