The University of Texas Class of 2020 Decisions Thread

@bk1366 how do you calculate it if your school is not listed (college of education) or if your school doesn’t rank (if you know)

@adramelech Not sure if anyone has told you anything yet. My friend was accepted into the Engineering program last year and wasn’t notified until March.

Might I also add he was valedictorian.

Anyone hear any recent decisions??

Today I asked on Twitter if Admissions could share when the next wave will come out, and they gave their usual not so helpful answer that they don’t have that information yet. Sigh. More waiting.

My D got into plan 2 and was notified in 3rd week of Dec. The status is updated today. No info on Dean’s yet

I got admitted into Computer Science some time this week (I hadn’t checked since Sunday). Now just waiting for the decisions from the honors programs.

Good Luck to everyone.

I have got admissions to UT Business school. Wondering if they offer any scholarships?

Hello everyone,

I have been reading this blog or forum since November and have been anxiously waiting for my decision for quite a while like many other people on here.

I was accepted into Neuroscience major today at UT Austin around 6:00 PM and am extremely happy! I didn’t think I was gonna get into my major at all but surprisingly so I got in.

I am not bragging but I just want to post this because I want people to know that they should never give up hope, because I got in and my stats were EXTREMELY mediocre. Miraculously I even got the Presidential scholarship!!! So don’t withdraw your apps and keep waiting please

My stats for those curious:

  • SAT: 1760 (CR: 620, MATH: 630, Writing: 510 lol that one is embarrassing)
  • SAT Subject tests: 650 BIO 570 MATH 1
  • In state
  • Top 3% (I go to a very not competitive high school)
  • 3.99 Unweighted GPA 5.3 Weighted
  • I come from an underprivileged family low middle class (>$43,000 annually)
  • Extracurricular activities:
  • Science Olympiad VP
  • Mu Alpha Theta
  • Muslim Youth Basketball
  • Chess Club
  • AP tests: Took 4-5 and passed all of them (College Board AP Scholar)
  • Wrote required essay and one extra one. I am a horrible writer but I wrote about really meaningful stuff that impacted me as student and person and drove me towards medicine
  • Recommendations- AP Biology teacher and Advanced Engineering Teacher 7/10
  • No internships research or anything but a decent amount of community service from school, local library, and mosque

I am not very smart and am a horrible test taker (just a hard worker) so don’t think only the geniuses get their first choice major. UT has been my dream school since 9th grade and I can’t wait to attend. I hope everyone on here gets in. Best of LUCK!!! Hook em’

Feel free to ask any more questions.

Daughter received more good news today. Admitted to the McCombs school of Business! Very proud of her as she was a “Review admit.” App was submitted back in November. Stats: 29 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA, varsity sports, lots of leadership and service hours.

Keep the faith and Hook’em!

Reflection
[] Strengths: Passion for my major, essays, rec, test scores (no one with my ACT and GPA has ever been rejected from UT at my school)
[
] Weaknesses: GPA (faced a lot of personal difficulties sophomore year), “Rank”- dependent on GPA.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Kind of expected? idk, it was a coin toss
[
] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: Scripps (ED, have to attend, but I do have a loophole if things don’t work out), SCU (EA+scholarship). Deferred UMich (have to withdraw). Withdrawn- UDub (presumably), USC, Rice, UCSC. Waiting on but eventually have to withdraw: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSB, SJSU, Cal Poly SLO.
[/list]

General Comments:
So story behind this, I forgot to withdraw this (kept putting it off) and found out I was admitted today in the middle of class. Screaming (ok, more like yelping) in the middle of a group discussion was not the best idea…
I can’t attend, so hopefully I’ll give a waitlist hopeful my spot  It’s been a wild ride, but I would really like to thank UT for this.

Just got accepted to the Cockrell School of Engineering for Aerospace! I am an OOS student in Florida.

I haven’t been following this thread but wanted to post my daughter’s stats in hopes they will provide insight to someone else.

She was accepted today
OOS - Biology Major
Class Rank 3/234
GPA: 3.97 unweighted/4.3 weighted
ACT: 27 composite(27 math/27 reading) and SAT is 1240 (CR 550 & M 700)
6 Varsity Letters/Lots of AP/volunteering/job/state medals in multiple sports (but not continuing in college)
Most likely going to A&M though.
Her test scores are not stellar but I think that her class rank along with her extracurriculars show that she is a hard working student who can compete well. Might give hope to others that don’t have perfect test scores.

Accepted
SAT:2020 (math 680, critical 660, writing 680)
SAT2: math 1 710, biology 670
Undeclared premed
I have loads of extracurriculars
I think my essay was good

@Mueenah When did it come out?

Told me about what? My acceptance to engineering?

@glm1998 what are your specs?

College: Accepted to McCombs.

Stats:
SAT: 1820.
ACT: 30.
SAT IIs: Spanish 800, Literature 710 (did not send).
GPA: 3.9.
Rank: 41/521.
Other stats: AP English Lit (4), AP World History (3), AP French (3).

Subjective:
Essays: 10/10, based around my experience going home to Mexico and being seen as something of an oddity due to my failure to have gotten wedded as soon as it was legal for me to do so. The other one linked my being a Catechist and Debater to my interest in Business.
Teacher Recs: 8/10.
Counselor Rec: 10/10,
Hook (if any): URM.

Location/Person:
State or Country: Texas.
School Type: Public.
Ethnicity: Hispanic.
Gender: Female.

Other Factors: Top 8%, so, automatic admit. Pretty solid extracurriculars (founded a club, president of BPA). One of my recommendations was from an alumni if that helps.
General Comments: Super happy to have gotten into McCombs, and honored to be in the select group of bright minds allowed in for the Class of 2020. Hardly thought I could considering I haven’t taken a “real Math class” since Sophomore year (not even Pre-Calc).

Did you get accepted today? I’m out of state and I really want to get into mccombs.
