Per the threads last year on this topic on CC, expect a big wave around the third week of February for the vast majority of decisions to all schools. Thousands of decisions are still yet to come out. If you hear before then, icing on the cake for you, but for most still waiting, if last year is any indication, the third week is a big one for most.
My son is OOS and applied at the end of September to McCombs (though his high school didn’t get his transcripts/recs in until the second week of October.) Still waiting here, too. I don’t think order of application matters. It seems the admissions office gets to it when they get to it…and sometime before March 1.
I was stalking this thread for a friend who is applying this year.
@plexaterson Definitely don’t give up! I also applied as an OOS ChemE last year. Last year the majority of engineers, including me, got admitted in (I believe late) March :’) Even a decent amount of auto-admits didn’t hear back from Cockrell until then.
It was disheartening to hear back from other schools and hear nothing from UT, but it just made me that much more ecstatic to hear I got in after the long wait.
That being said, I accepted my offer and am currently a freshman at UT majoring in chemical engineering. I love it here. If y’all have any general questions about UT or the ChemE program (not really admissions-wise though… I’m not an admissions officer), feel free to ask
My niece, who is an auto admit, received her admissions to Cockrell Chem E today. It came in My Status. She checked it at 5pm and it was there. No telling when it came in.
@shivaya UTA is in Arlington. UT in Austin is just known as UT.
UT doesn’t have a lot of merit scholarships. They focus on financial need. But there are some. Did you fill out the scholarship application when you applied?
@Kat1998

She is waiting on 5 other schools that won’t come out until late March. UT is probably in the top 4 for her. She put Chem E as her second choice. I would guess that she has competitive stats but every year is crazy. You never know. They supposedly look at writing score and math score for the AI index. Good luck. Hope you get great news soon!
