The University of Texas Class of 2020 Decisions Thread

If you’re in-state, you’ve got a good shot.

@K20903 Hey, could you help me calculate my AI? I heard theres a bonus of some kind. Would you happen to know what the bonus is for?

i believe the bonus is .1 added if you surpass the classes required for admission. For example if you take an extra science or language

@jkenny50 Woah, I just happened to check and you just responded. Thanks! Is it .1 bonus per class or just total?

@liberalguy97 You get a 0.1 bonus to your AI score if you take more than the required number of classes in two of three: math, science or social studies. I talked to a UT admissions counselor and if you have taken 4 math, 4 science or 3 social studies classes you get the bonus.

@sunbeams It is not easy to transfer between colleges at UT. Sorry.

Well, I guess I hope he gets in there as a freshman. Fingers crossed!

D got in Turing cs honors today!’

@shaninbe do you mind sharing her stats?

D applied prior to 10/15 to CNS. Top 3.5% TX auto admit, 31 ACT, NHS, 4 years sports, volunteer work - still awaiting decision on major in CNS. Anyone else heard about CNS science majors and/or honors yet? Chances?

@NotSoPatient I applied to same school (computer science), before the priority deadline. Top 2%, TX auto admit, 31 ACT as well. Haven’t heard anything.

Thank you for letting me know. Wishing you good luck! Here’s hoping today will bring good news for you and our D!

My D also applied 10/1 for computer science as her major, 30 ACT, first in her class of 524, good essays good extracurriculars lots of AP classes. We haven’t heard anything on our major either- she also applied for Dean’s on 10/15 has not heard on that either. Goodluck to all of us still waiting !!!

Quick question - for auto admits, do you have to accept your admission before hearing about your major? I saw on Twitter several students who seem to have accepted and gotten a GoneToTexas sign when they still didn’t know about their major. Doesn’t make sense to me to accept without knowing you got your major.

No, you don’t have to accept until May 1.

@NotSoPatient Same here, once you accept their admission, what is the point in them accepting you to the major? There is none, they will just throw you into a LA degree.

@NotSoPatient I am an auto admit and accepted my admission on September 28 when MyStatus showed I had been admitted but my major not determined. I accepted so I could do the housing application. My understanding is that when you are offered a housing contract your dorm choice priority is determined on the date you made your housing application. On November 17 I found out that I had been accepted into Cockrell for Petroleum Engineering, which was my first choice.

You can do a housing application as soon at it shows up in your mystatus tab. You do not have to accept your admissions offer to do a housing application (that would put those who haven’t heard at a real disadvantage). If you think you might go to UT, and might want to live on campus, consider it an extra application cost.

We did the same as @piesquared. As soon as our daughter got notification of auto admit, we did the housing application. But, she will not accept her admission unless she gets her college and major of choice. She has other admissions already so is waiting until UT decision is out to make her final choice of school.
