My daughter is on Loomis waitlist. That is what school told us.

anyone on Loomis waitlist need financial aid? My son does. :(

Anyone know about Thacher’s numbers?

We are on loomis Waitlist and needing financi aid. Same story at Westminster

I think if you’re waitlisted and needing FA, you ought, in my opinion, to begin looking for other options, unless you have a specific hook (URM, legacy, etc). If you are an URM or legacy, you might fill another spot that someone drops out of. But if you are the traditional, well-rounded applicant, there most likely will be a FP applicant on the waitlist. And, if you do get pulled off of the waitlist, the chances of receiving FA are slim, as there is also a FA waitlist of those who were accepted without aid. Be realistic and work your chances, but keep in mind you do need a place to end up next year.

I have heard of a number of folks on WL at Andover including my DD and another CC friend. Seems like the wait pool is a good size, at least for entering 9th girls.

I know a VERY qualified applicant (9th grade girl) waitlisted at Loomis for this year with FA.

I know me.

My two as well.

If if if if there is movement on a wait list, when is it most likely to occur? Shortly after A10?

If if if if there is movement on WL, I think there is a post-A10 window, then a window when the first deposit is due (varies by school).

And don’t forget the late summer “cold feet” window just before schools starts…

My D2 needing FA dropped off the wait lists at Loomis and Westie … hope you all get in. Last go round, we received a spot off a wait list on April 8th, just in time for the last revisit.

I encourage folks to politely but firmly show your interest and have connections assist – real interest counted a lot for us in getting off of the waitlist and the support of counselors and friends helped us across the finish line at the end.

We called Thacher a couple of days ago, and they said that their yield was very high this year and probably not taking anyone from the waitlist…

Has anyone heard from AOs?

I burst into tears! Loved it ! Thanks for sharing …

Folks, I do not know where some of you get the information that you can accept and then turn in your deposit at a later date. Accepting admission offer and deposit are due on 4/10. This means you will forfeit around $5000 if you accept lower choice school and wait for dream school. This is the average deposit for boarding school. Both parents are required to sign the contract by 4/10. I imagine if a school wanted to play hard ball they could come after your family for the full $50k. This thread in years past does contain a post where the applicant got accepted off the wait list to Andover? The poster stated he forfeited his deposit. This seems like an expensive proposition and I am reminded of a Star Trek episode where Spock tells the suitor of his bride"Sometimes having something is not as good as wanting it". Our family would come up with the $$$$ for BS but would not add to the cost just so our child could attend some “dream” school that will somehow make their life perfect and guarantee their position as “master of the universe”.
