it's really just a card that gives you a choice on whether or not you wish to remain on the waiting list. you just check the "yes" or "no" box and send it back to them. there is also the waitlisted letter and a sheet telling you stuff about the waiting list (what happens, etc.).

Has anybody in asia recieved the card?

the one thing I don't like is that the card didn't come with postage on it... so I have to pay 39 cents to remain on the waitlist...

They're just testing your commitment. :p

i know, stupid isn't it? probably make us pay for our rejection letter postage too :(

Ok, since most of you are already filling for bankrupcy coz of cost of wanting to stay on the wait list, you should turn your attention to eventually get off.

kpex... it was a joke... calm down.

dude, am cool...am cool. No sweat

for those of you who'd like last years wait list stats, 900 applicants were wait listed and about 125 more students were admitted off the wait list than the usual 50. I donno though how many accepted to stay on the wait list in the first place before admissions were made. Hope this is helpful.

I've provided links for the full stories about the admissions and wait list. I got these from the depth of the net, you can't just google and get these links. Be enlightened...

thanks. looks like we better get comfortable with our other options.

Definitely send in your card if you're at all interested in Duke! Send in supplemental materials if you're really interested in attending. It couldn't hurt, and quite a few got off the wait list last year.

From a formerly waitlisted student, waiting was the best decision I made! Best of luck.

Is there an online alternative? International mail is soooo slow. I haven't even recieved my card!

ya, man. I haven't gotten my card from Duke yet. I was waitlisted at UPenn too but their card arrived ages ago. Donno what's going on,and though I wish their was an online alternative, I don't think there is :(

I am n international student admitted by Duke. Dont know what had really gone wrong with Duke. My friends still have not received the waitlist card. Who else have received one yet?

One question, where exactly should we email updates to the admissions office? Just the main admissions email?

just got waitlist card thing in the mail. i'm sending an update thing with a copy of my school report card with all my teacher comments to make me look better - is that too much paperwork for them to look at or should i just send them my simple transcript with numbers? WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?!

i HAVE to get in off the waitlist.

what are your stats dobadeedo?

dobadeedo, I feel the same way. It's Duke or state for me.

I just sent an update letter along with my 3rd quarter grades. Best of luck to the both of us.

There is info on this site about what to do if you are waitlisted. Just search waitlist or deferral. Send in any updates, grades and if you haven't already, Another recommendation by someone who knows you well and can add insights into your character and the impact you can make at Duke . Also, a sample of an AP English paper might help if you think they need to see what you can do.
