I have the ACT on Saturday and my goal is to get a 35. My practice tests have been from 33-35 (35 more recently).

HOWEVER, this is my final week (really days) for studying. I am extremely busy with school and golf at this time, and am hard pressed to study for the ACT.

My question is: can anyone with past experience of getting 33-34+ scores tell me what they did the in the final week leading up the big test? Are last minute studying/practice tests effective? Should I just relax and not do much and let the chips fall where they may?

Obviously, long term faults cannot be easily corrected in a week (i.e. not understanding the science section at all). But since I am already a decent scorer, more practice could give me a better peace of mind on the test. FOR SURE, I will get my practice down on the easy knowledge based mistakes. Like logarithms, I suck at those and miss that question half the time on my practice tests.

I took four or five practice tests starting about a month before the exam and got a 34. I honestly don’t remember if I studied or not in that last week. The ACT is a pretty easy test, but it’s also fast, and what I’ve seen with myself and my friends is that time is the real challenge. Getting a top score is less about how well you studied than it is about avoiding stupid mistakes while under pressure.

Your practice scores are very good, so I’m guessing that the the material (aside from logs) isn’t an issue. If you are finishing the sections on your practice tests with time to spare, then I’d just take it easy this week. You’ll do fine on the test.

Honestly I was in the same situation as you this week - super stressed. I didn’t have time to study at all, other than just going over a few math formulas. I know it’s a little late now, but I think the best preparation is to go in with a logical mindset. Know that it isn’t trying to trick you, and work logically to find the best answer. If you don’t know it, skip it and come back, but pay attention to the clock. Hope you did great!
