The weight of which research programs

I got into Welch's summer scholar program in Texas (The Welch Summer Scholar Program) and they're asking for a reply by March 24th...I also applied to SIMR (formerly stanford ccis) and am maybe going to apply to HSHSP (michigan state), both top research programs, but their notifications don't come out until way later (simr-april something, hshsp-who knows...apps due april 1st).

any advice on what i should do at this point?

thanks!!

Ew ew ew Welch Scholars. Gross.

(I was a Clark Scholar - at Texas Tech, the Welchies and Clarkies had a little rivalry going on. We ended up getting more Intel and Siemens semifinalists, so it was ok.)

HSHSP is a decent program, but you know, it costs money. The dorms are good (having been to Sny-Phi several times). I know a few people who have went, but I don’t think the research quality is as good as at Welch. Then again, if you like other fields better than chemistry, HSHSP might be a good option.

I don’t know much about SIMR.

I got into the Welch Program too :)

@proletariat: thanks!!

@sammyfaye: awesome! maybe ill see you there…

does anyone know A) how selective welch is and B) if one location is considered better than the other (like, if students are assigned a location randomly, or if it’s deliberately decided depending on how good your app was)? thankkkss so much!
