The "Who's Tired of Your Friends/Family Asking You About Colleges" Thread

Haha, this thread maked me smile.

So my Guidance Co. doesn't understand that not every college has rolling decision (Like 75% of my school go to Northern Illinois U.) so everytime I see him he asks me where I've been excepted. Last week I was like, "Um I'l still waiting to heat back.." And he goes "Ohh, that's not good. Let me ask you a question, how do you feel about just going to Community College next year?, then you can reapply next year"

haha, I just said "Hell No" Like of you, I am sick of explaining that notification date is April 1st.

(I'm top 1% of my hs class with good stats/ECs)

Good luck to everyone.

Haha, your counselor seems REALLY helpful...

It's funny how some people have responded to me applying to Yale... I was accepted into the UT-Austin McCombs School of Business back in November (one of first acceptances in my class, along with my other UT-accepted friends), but I also applied to BostonU, WashU, and Yale. Some of my friends think I'm crazy to not go to Yale if I get in come March 30, and my (gay) guidance counselor thinks I (gay also) would be crazy not to go to the "Gay Ivy", while one of my friends (a rather dumb one) actually said "Oh why would you want to go there? Yale? That school sucks!". Yes well, leave it to the ignorant.

Yeah, Yale is a really crappy school...

lol "gay Ivy"? I've never heard that about Yale. Please elaborate.

Oh, believe me, I feel your pain. It seems like everyone already knows where they're going.. they have their housing all set up and some are even registering for classes already whereas I'm still twiddling my thumbs waiting for the damn decision letters to come. I'm still waiting to hear back from 6 schools... and it gets so tiring going to school everyday and dealing with questions like "oh! where are you going?" etc, etc.

There's one guy in my class that never shuts about the four colleges that he's gotten into. Of course, all four are state schools that have like 100% acceptance rates, which IMO, isn't that big of a feat. But, whatever, I think that's the bitterness seeping in.

April 1st cannot come soon enough.

Really? Yale has a reputation for having a large amount of gay students, which fits in with its artsy personality.

I have proof!

"what better place to turn than Yale, the widely acknowledged 'Gay Ivy'"

Also...interesting article on the gay legacy at Yale http://www.washblade.com/2004/4-16/arts/thearts/thearts.cfm

I'm not looking forward to next yr :/ it's already starting.. the other day I was over at my friend's house and his father (who's very smart and has a great job etc) asked me what colleges I'm looking at so I said oh.. probably Wesleyan because my grandfather went there and I mentioned some others.. and his father was like "Oh.. so Wesleyan's in Ohio right?" and I was just like "um... no actually it's the one in Connecticut" and then when I was leaving he was like "oh so did Matt give you some ideas about which colleges to look into?" (...right... what exactly is that supposed to mean?)
