Just out. Doesn't reveal much but here it is:

i think i asked this before, but has anyone heard numbers on how many people were rejected early? im curious to see what percentage of the deferrees the 15-20 eventually admitted students comprise

Virtually no one is rejected during the early decision round.

Some are. I once found press releases or internal memos for several years that had the total number of applicants, the number deferred, and the number accepted. It wasn't a Stanford-like rejection of about 70% of early applicants but it was clear that some (but not a lot of) early applicants were rejected.

Don't get discouraged. The admissions people will accept some of the deferred applicants. I hope you will be one of them. You seem to want to go to Williams so much and I'm sure you have done a lot to let the admissions staff know that.

Good luck, aube.

it says in the article that men are favored this year and that women were favored last year ED... is this a pattern, like girls one year and guys the next, and then girls again? do i have a better chance for next year being a girl?

Haha, probably not... it most likely kind of random (the gender distribution), and one sex is never ahead of the other by very much...

mikey, i know someone that was rejected with decent stats.
