I was recently at MIT and I had a chance to explore the Z center. I couldn't believe it... olympic swimming pool, state of the art everything. As a weightlifter, the weightroom almost made me cry... two full sets of olympic style plates and barbells, numerous freeweights, and every machine in the history of man. I was just wondering, do most students take advantage of this? Does the courseload allow you time to take advantage of it?

It's hard to get in a workout sometimes, but you have to remember that it only takes an hour a day so it's not that hard.

I don't feel the weightroom is sufficient for the population. It is so crowded from 5-9 PM.

most of the time it's pretty crowded, so yeah i think students do :)

Does anyone here swim/know an MIT swimmer?

Not to sound discordant, but to be honest, I think that while Zesiger is pretty well equipped, I still think that Malkin is a bit better, on the whole. The best college gym I've seen, at least in the area, however, is the clearly Shad Hall fitness center.

wow I have to visit this place sometime :)

Depending on what size letter I get tomorrow I may be a MIT swimmer next year! :) There pool is really nice, the only nicer college pool that I've swam at is Rutgers.
