THE2000-Theater Appreciation

I'm deciding on whether or not I should take this class. Does anyone have any information on what types of work this class requires/what type of things are done in class? Thanks a lot, really appreciate it.

I took this class in Spring 09. It was a very easy class to take with a heavy courseload. Attendence was mandatory in the spring, but I heard that is not usually the case. It wasn’t a problem for me though since I always go to all of my classes. There were about 5 or 6 plays we had to read throughout the semester. Some of them were kind of long, but it wasn’t too bad. My TA required our class to write 1-page reaction papers for each of the plays, but not all of the TA’s required that. Throughout the semester everyone must go to 3 plays that the UF theatre department performs in. During class, the instructors lecture and sometimes will perform skits or do other things. The exams are really easy. The professor posted the exam review questions online and those questions were very similar to the test questions. There is also a group project. You will get into a group of around 5 people and perform a short play in front of your discussion class (which has about 20 people in it). This was kind of annoying because only 3 of the people in my group would ever show up to class. One didn’t even show up for the actual perfomance. Hope this helps!

The general consensus –> easy.

However, the content and structure changes depending on which grad student or professor teaches it. I had a different set of requirements for the class compared to what FG3 had.
