AthenaL- I auditioned for Ithaca on January 14th in DC. Where did you see your major was changed? Was it under Application Checklist on myithaca?

Oh and ReadyforMarch- I also got a callback to DePaul on February 5th in NY. Its my second or third choice. I didnt get either callback for Rutgers but I emailed and Barbara H told me that it definitely did not mean i wasnt being considered…I dont know what to believe about that haha

So far, I have been rejected from Depaul, University of Minnesota(Guthrie), Suny-Purchase, and I’m expecting a rejection from Boston…that audition didn’t go to well. Yesterday i auditioned for SMU, and that went pretty nicely. I didn’t realize that the old dean of Yale is now the head chair of the Theatre department… :o. The campus is beautiful, but if i get in i think i might have to rob a bank in order to finance it all… GO REJECTIONS! Gives us a little taste of the rest of our lives.ahaha

I’ve been rejected from SUNY Purchase and UArts (So far…many more to come I’m guessing!) For those of you just starting to hear, in my experience anyways the first rejection SUCKS and they’re all up hill from there! Don’t get too disheartened – the right thing will happen! :)

@waitwaitwait I’m sorry about all your rejections… Hopefully you get some acceptances soon!! & yes like you said, all this rejection is preparing us actors for our chosen career =P we just need to stay strong & not lose confidence in our talents!

Oh! and Im pretty sure i got rejected from Rutgers.

My D got a rejection from CCM - checked the status on the website Friday afternoon to find out. I expect a letter will follow. She did get an acceptance from U of Arts - via snail mail. Waiting on many others.

Congrats Actr12. She auditoned on the 4th. She is extremely happy since DePaul is her top choice. Best of luck to you with CMU!

ohhaicollege, when did you audition for U of M? I auditioned feb 5th and still havnt heard back

**Actr12–If you go under app checklist on myithaca and look for your major of interest, you can see if it has changed or not.

AthenaL- thank you! I auditioned in January and it hasnt changed from Acting. Do you guys think that means I made it in?

I’ve been rejected from University of Minnesota and Rutgers (though I was accepted academically to both). I’m still waiting to hear on the rest.

Dramaqueen - You probably know this, but UMinn does have a very nice BA in theatre, with lots of training and performing opportunities, including some in conjunction with the BFA. Often we suggest not going to a BA where you were rejected from the BFA, but I think at UMinn the experience would be quite separate and meaningful. I’d keep that BA as a safety at this point and do some research on it. But good luck with the rest of your auditioned schools!

**Actr12-I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! There really is no telling until you get that final letter. Their final audition was on the 25th so I am sure they are still sifting through those. I hope you get in!!!

EmmyBet, I do know about UMinn’s BA program and am definitely considering it as a safety. I’m actually very interested in a BA program (half of the programs that I applied to were BA programs), however at this point I’m holding out to see if Muhlenburg, Connecticut College, or Smith come through :)

Auditioned for Purchase on the 12th and received my rejection today. No big deal, I was expecting it (I did not get filmed at my audition) but just so everyone knows the relative time frame.

theatrehopeful - did you audition on campus? I auditioned on the final audition date. I have a feeling that I did not get in either. I didn’t get a callback. I think I was more in love with the price than the program.

Last year my son was rejected to all his top schools and had to “settle”. In the meantime, he received the training and knowledge that he used this year for his audtions and so far, has nailed 99% of them and been accepted to all but 1. So, my advice to you all, hang in there and if you don’t get your top picks, use it to you advantage and get the experience to use it the next year.

ProudmomNnc–thank you so much! This process is so hard on the kids AND their parents. Where did your son feel like he had to “settle”? One of my son’s friends couldn’t decide last year whether to go to a “second rate” program at a local college or take a “gap year” and go to NYC and get workshop training. She chose the local school and is auditioning now to some of her original schools. Haven’t heard yet for her…My s has been rejected from 4 schools so far (his first choice and 3 choices where he felt the audition didn’t go well). Still waiting to hear from 6 others but he has been accepted to 2 non-audition safeties.

abtsmom-What school was he considering that’s a "second rate"program??
