So I saw this on the mt major page & I found it very helpful. You list where you have been rejected from, the day you auditioned, & how you were notified (snail mail, email, phone call, online portal, etc). That way people waiting for decisions can get an idea on how & when each college releases their rejections, hopefully to ease others' anxiety

My son does not expect to receive formal notification of his rejection from DePaul until next month, but they state unambiguously that students who are not called back are no longer under consideration. He auditioned on February 3rd, in NYC.

stagemum you are correct. My d auditioned in NY too and they made it very clear that that if you were not called for a call back that very day then you were not being considered for their program. Therefore I am not sure that DePaul will even follow up with an official rejection letter. Juilliard is the same process, but they only follow up with a rejection via email.

Ithaca, auditioned 2/3 in NYC. I have not received a formal rejection letter, my major changed from MT to exploratory on the myithaca website. I wanted to be considered for acting and MT so I am guessing I was rejected from both.

@AthenaL I’m sorry to hear that ): That is such a horrible way to find out… what other schools did you apply to/audition at?

Yeah, it wasn’t the way I would have chosen to find out. Now I feel like I am going to have to face the rejection twice when I get the letter. I am still waiting to hear back from Adelphi, Fordham, Point Park, Marymount Manhattan, and SUNY Purchase. I still have auditions for AMDA, and probably U Arts.

Stay strong & best of luck! Break a leg at your upcoming auditions! I’m still waiting for U of Arizona, UCLA, USC & Pace…

Keep in mind that no news from Purchase is good news!

Rejection from U of M came in mail on Thursday.

Rejected out of hand at DePaul (no callback), Texas State (they notified me by email a few days afterward), and Coastal Carolina (wasn’t called back, and I don’t expect to be, although theoretically there is still hope for me). I’m also waiting on word from Point Park (which was a disaster, so I expect it to be a no), TCU BFA Acting (in as a BA Theater major), and Emerson. I auditioned for all of these at Chicago Unifieds, 2/6 and 2/7. Not terribly worried, though, as I’ve been accepted and officially committed to Chapman. Just goes to show that you only need the right one! :)

Congrats, StrangeBro. I am still waiting for Point Park too! They said I should know about 2 weeks after my audition… It has been 3. I’m so anxious because Point Park is one of my top schools. It’s up there with Adelphi. Fingers crossed for us both!

Rejected at Juilliard on February 3, 2012 (I didnt get a callback) and then sent an email confirming my rejection lol…waiting on Carnegie Mellon!

We also presume that my son was rejected from Mason Gross, despite confusing statements regarding the significance of callbacks (he didn’t receive one). He auditioned on February 18th.

Can anybody clarify the significance of callbacks for Mason Gross? Is it the same situation as DePaul?

No one really knows… you can check out the thread on it, but it’s really just a bunch of speculation as far as I know. Best to prepare for the worst just in case, though.

My daughter was also rejected by Juilliard, in the same way as described by Actr12. Still waiting for answers from everywhere else, although she, too, did not get called to the Rutgers weekend.

theatrekid24…Unlike Rutgers - DePaul is straightforward with their callbacks. Mr D auditioned for DePaul in early Feb. and they made it very clear that if you do no get a call back that same day, then you are not being considered for their program. My D was one of the lucky few that day that was called back. Rutgers on the other hand like to leave you hanging out there in limbo. She did not get a call back but they have informed her that she is still being considered for the program (pending talent assessment is what it still states on her application status) I totally do not believe this. Otherwise why would you have a callback weekend. This is Rutgers first year doing callbacks and they are probably just going along trying to figure it all out. All the best to you.

Congratulations on the DePaul callback, Ready4March; my son was especially disheartened by his failure to be called back, because he felt it was his strongest audition to date. He was relieved to receive some acceptances (albeit to lesser choices) within several days of that disappointment.

Thanks stagemum. We’re hoping for some good news next month. It’s her top choice. No acceptances yet, 3 rejections, so we need some good news around here. Congrats to your son on his acceptances.

For the record, last year my D’s rejection experience for auditioned programs was:

UMinn BFA - no callback weekend offer, rejection letter soon after calls were made. She, too, got that administrative phone call the same week, which was really frustrating, although the Guthrie program was not high on her list, fortunately;
CMU - electronic notification, late March, like most colleges;
BU - electronic, late March also;
Montclair State - letter soon after Chicago Unifieds. We appreciated this because it gave her time to schedule an interview for the BA if she had wanted to go that route (we hadn’t realized they were two completely different processes). She chose not to, because she had other acceptances at that point and Montclair had fallen much lower on her list.

She also was rejected by Vassar and Northwestern BAs during the conventional notification period. We will always remember the day she heard from those two AND BU and CMU. Not fun! Thank goodness for a balanced list.

Good luck to everyone!
