Can anyone speak to the Theater opportunities at Wellesley- Specifically Musical theater and also regular theater?

There is a VERY active theater community and atmosphere here at Wellesley. There are numerous theater studies courses, and my roomate actually directed a play last semester as part of a class she was taking. There are also auditions for numerous musical and non-musical plays throughout the year (and these are well advertised). Furthermore, there’s a Shakespeare Society on campus that is always performing Shakespeare plays - in fact, at the moment they’re doing 24 hr shakes, which involves them performing all of Shakespeare’s plays in 24 hrs.

Overall, there is a LOT of involvement here for theater & drama arts, whether you’re an actress, crew, director or whatever you may be.

Thanks Hoppipolla!
Are male roles played by women or are men recruited? And, do students participate in any of the regional theater available in the greater Boston area?(Or even Wellesley Players)?

Male roles are generally played by women, but some productions do involve men from Olin and Babson and vice versa.
