Theatre Arts, Acting B.F.A. programs

Hello, the B.F.A. degree is a new search for us. Can anyone express their first hand visits, schooling and programs at CALARTS, JULLIARD, ROYAL SCOTTISH ACADEMY, USC, CMU, NORTHWESTERN, NYU, DREW and EMERSON? Trying to research the programs and have visited 1/2 of the schools thus far. Would love some thoughts on them.
Thank you for your time and energy.

Look at the Theatre/Drama College thread which is here in the Arts Majors forum:

and the "Musical Theater Major" forum, here:

Feel free to ask more questions there, once you've done some searching and reading within those threads.

There is a whole discussion-hours of browsing on CC-look under music theater major. The first place would be the FAQ's section-answers many questions and gives you differences between BA and BFA programs. Also gives you state by state schools and tells you which are most selective and some of the differences. Some allow a certain level of liberal arts classes, some do not.

My daughter is a junior and we are touring colleges this spring. She wants an acting program and has been working at Strasberg and then Oxford, as well as various other programs. SO far I have come up with the usual-Julliard, Tisch, Emerson (we want east coast) but I also wondered about Marymount Manhattan and The New School. I also have heard University of Brisitsh Columbia has a good program. She wants to be able to be in production year one as well. Any thoughts? And other recommendations appreciated. She is a good student but will not have great scores due to dyslexia.

Are there any current students, alumni or parents thereof who can give their opinions/experiences with this program? Or anybody who has visited and evaluated it? It looks good on paper, but I don't see it mentioned much.

Thank you,

My educated guess is that the Minnesota program is not mentioned much due to its youth. . .it just hasn't been around that long. Looking back, Minnesota has a reasonably good track record with acting students, and the affiliation with the Guthrie will give the current bunch a lot of good opportunities. In addition, Mpls/St. Paul is an excellent theatre town.

An actor/director friend of mine is directing a production over there this semester, and he has experience at other universities. I'll get some input from him.
