I am an international applicant who had applied Oberlin and was latter admitted. I really love this college and hope to enroll. However, my family can only afford $40,000 per year whereas Oberlin only offer me $1000 employment, which does clearly not meet my needs. I wrote to them several times but got no replies. What should I do to appeal financial aids or could anyone deduce what?

I mean what happened to my FA application. And if I appeal, will it withdraw my offer?

OK…your family can “afford” $40,000 a year. But that has absolutely nothing to do with what Oberlin determined your family should be paying based on their income and assets.

Oberlin looked at your family income, assets, primary home equity, any other real estate you own, and came up with an amount that they feel your family can contribute. They also look at any assets held by you.

You can inquire about how they determined your financial aid award. No, they won’t withdraw the current offer.

@thumper1 Thank you, I have called the FA office and they said they would re-review my application for FA.
