So..yeah, there's a chance that I'll get a D this quarter in Calculus. I'm probably going to get an A in all my other classes (or possibly 4 As and 1 B), so...is there a chance that this D will result in me getting my decision rescinded? There's still a chance I get a C, but for some reason I'm having a lot of trouble with derivatives (this is honors calculus too btw, not AP), and so...I don't know...it's actually not even due to senioritis..Will they look at my quarter grade, or will they look at my semester grade? I'm really starting to freak out about it.

brain damage

Thanks. That was helpful.

They'll look at whatever grade is on your transcript. If quarter grades are on there, they'll see it. My D's school shows just semester grades on the transcript. If you can swing a C for the semester, you'll be okay.

Are you on block scheduling or regular? Is it a true quarter grade or a semester grade since it is block? If it is on your transcript it is a big problem. If it is a quarter grade, get the semester grade up to a C after the next quarter, as that is all that shows up on the transcript

Ask your teacher to drop the lowest grade. (it may work)

It's block scheduling..but it is still just a quarter grade

keep going over the material...understanding derivatives takes time..but once you do they are easy.
trick is to sit down w/ someone who has it down cold and watch them go through a problem, step by step.

its like a light turns on..aha moment...you can do it.

How are you this far into the year and still on derivatives?

my friend and I are in the same situation. i have all As and a D in math, which hopefully I can bring up to a C by the end of the semesters. we were so relieved in February when we got into UF, now we both have D's in math. I talked to my guidance counselor and she said they only rescind decisions if a) you completely FAIL a class or b) your grades, in multiple classes, drastically drop.

so my advice to you would be to get your calc grade up to a C, and you'll be fine. i would imagine a D would be okay, but I wouldn't risk it. If worse comes to worse, you can talk to your math teacher about it. Sure, if you don't deserve a C, you don't deserve a C. but if you're borderline, I'm sure your teacher doesn't want to screw up your future. At my school, if a student fails a class their senior year, the teacher has to bump it up to a D because they want everyone to go to the college that they got into.

good luck and GO GATORS!

I'm taking AP Caluclulus right now. it's absolutely awful. Derivatives may be the death of me. i feel ya man : (
