these graphs may help for those who are still waiting..

I know lots of you like to know stats and what not about who have been accepted and who hasn't. Well this is something I got off my school's family connection website. They are scatter gram graphs for all the kids to applied to Penn State last year from my school.

The first graph is based on GPA and SAT (CR & Math) Scores
The second graph is based on GPA and ACT scores.

Green Square means they were accepted
Red X means they were denied
I'm the big red circle so you can just ignore that.

Some of it makes no sense at all, but you can see for yourself!

weighted or unweighted GPA's? Is this a PA high school?

I hope this is accurate because it looks like I will get in.

Is this for summer session? or both

Highschool in VA
Pretty competitive

The GPA's are UW.

yeah this looks good, and i found out that kids who werent as good for UP got denied and accepted to their 2nd choice school, blckthought what was your stats. icould never find your post on it

Tilohnine, are these graphes for just Penn State University Park or does it include branch campuses? It seems like there are a few too many green dots on there. It really should only show UP acceptance, as they probably got rejected from UP if they got shuffled to a branch campus.

It's only UP and again these are just the people who applied to Penn State from my high school last year.

38 applied and 29 were accepted.

Someone with a 3.1/970 has a green dot.

maybe an athlete??

Ya actually I know for sure that person is an athlete. She plays softball for Penn State. I asked my counselor lol

What about the 3.2 and 1170 or so? just curious........athlete or no?

Honestly, are you just going by these people telling you they got accepted. I don't know anyone that got in with a gpa that was as low as a 3.2, unless they were from State College. Did you go to a good private school?

Its funny, I'm looking at my stats compared to the first graph and there's a big red x on it. Uh oh.

Those grades are weighted. There is no way they are not. This isnt Princeton we are talking about

LOL.

10 char

my friend got denied from UP with a 3.6 GPA and 980 SAT. he applied summer but his major was Landscape Architecture, so thats probably why

980 as in CR/M/W combined?
=o

haha no as in CR and M combined, 980 would be terrible in those 3, he applied for landscape architecture, a very hard major to get into

I'm pretty sure they are unweighted because my GPA says 3.58 on there and that is unweighted..but I could be wrong.

And I definitely said NOT to rely on these graphs haha.

I go to a public high school in Northern VA. It's very competitive though and my school district is ranked in nationally for it's test scores.

Also, my school sends out an impressive package to colleges rather than the standard transcript and secondary school report. It has lots of information on our school and has gotten good feedback from a lot of VA colleges.

Other than just the high school, many things can factor into someone with a low GPA's admission (alumni, connections with the school, relations, athletics, EC's, etc). Living in Northern VA you see a LOT of children whose parent(s) are politicians..they have connections to almost every school.

Try not to be over critical of these graphs lol I just want to post to give you some insight on people who have gotten accepted from around here..

No offense but this isn't VA.
Theres no telling what they do with that "impressive package."
(grab the transcript and trash the rest?)
