Did anyone not get theirs yet? I'm really anxious to see what's in it.

I'm still waiting for the Offer of Acceptance letter. I already got a call from my MOC, but I haven't gotten any of the stuff they're sending out in the mail yet. Hopefully next week... :~))

I haven't gotten the Appointee Kit either. But I'll keep my eyes open for the FedEx truck!!!

i see a bunch of people giving the general location as to where they live when discussing when they'll receive things. is location a big factor as to when you will receive information?

Yes, it could mean it's headed in your direction.

Doesn't guarantee it though.

The reason I think it is good to report where you are geographically and even how they are going (regular mail vs Fed Ex...) is because AFA has different people responsible for different parts of the US. It seems that they don't all send things at the same time or in the same means of transport. For instance in one example of many during this process, my D got the recent 2nd mailing by regular mail but some got it by FedEX. Interesting, we got them delivered on the same day as those that got them by FedEX but it was in the regular mail box. Apparently whoever sent my D's stuff decided to use regular mail, presumably a day or so earlier - or maybe a weekend was involved. Don't know why but it is a pattern I have seen as things come from AFA.

We live in Southern CA and our
son got his kit via priority mail
the same day folks were getting
theirs via FED EX. He accepted
his appointment in Jan. The main
point is that they are coming
and there will be time to get
everything done before I-Day.
Stay positive

Well, I got my Offer of Appointment today via priority mail, and I am going to send it back (with the offer accepted) tomorrow morning. I am hoping to receive my candidate package by mid-April now. Is there anything in the package that I need to know before I go to Orientation in mid-April? Thanks.

I thought that the candidate kit was only for people who returned their appointment acceptance in February?

Really? Hmm, well, maybe I'll find out the rest of the info at Orientation. Oh well, at least I won't be waiting for anything else in the mail. It gives me yet one more reason to look forward to Orientation!

The packet contained papers for security clearance, life insurance, emergency notification, and an Instructions to Appointees booklet that details what to bring and not to bring to I-day, an immunzation form that needs to be updated and completed, a form to submit your measurements from a clothing shop, and a listing of everything that will be issued to the Basic. They recommend that you show up in shape and plan on sticking it out strongly discouraging anyone from dropping out before Parent's Weekend. You can't show up wanting to "try it out," rather you have to be "all in."

Gasdoc-
I would much appreciate it if you could tell me anything about the immunizations. What immunizations do they want you to have coming in? I want to make sure I am up to date since I haven't had any in a long time. Any help would be much appreciated:)

Go to this link. It has the appointee booklet online. You can download it and print it off.

Nice link. The immunization forms are on pages 30-31 out of the 32 page packet, as numbered by the PDF, though the numbers written on the pages themselves say 26-27.

One of the cadets told me that once he arrived at the Academy, they didn't care about any of the immunization records and stuck him with everything again....(I'm not too crazy about needles)

Nodoby is. ;]

"One of the cadets told me that once he arrived at the Academy, they didn't care about any of the immunization records and stuck him with everything again....(I'm not too crazy about needles)"

If you already have some shots, couldn't you get sick if you get them again? Also, what if you're allergic to something??

omg! you might die.

Im sure the Academy knows what they are doing.

Our son got as many immunizations as he could from the local health service. It didn't seem to make much difference on I-day, but maybe he didn't get poked quite so many times. At any rate, they will not get on your case if you arrive without your shots up to date.

Thanks for all the info. guys :)
