they've definitely made their decisions already!

Jahmed,

If you have not visited BU, you should. It is more like NYU in terms of campus feel (a bunch of buildings mixed in with other urban structures). Not that there is anything wrong with that, but some people want more of an enclosed campus with some green areas. The only area I can think of at BU where there is some grass is "BU Beach." But this is a tiny green area that runs along a very busy highway (not a place where you would want to throw a frisbee or let your dog run free). BU's campus seems like it is couple of miles long but in some areas it's less than a block deep. To give you an idea how long this is, if you took the train from one end of the BU strip to the other (something that a lot of BU student do everyday), there would be three to four stops in between.

i chose Northeastern over BU because i really want the classic collegiate campus and atmosphere surrounded by the second greatest city in the world*. hopefully while on the wait list i can prove to them how much i really want to go. anyone got a guesstamation on the percentage breakdowns, you know : accepted, waited, rejected. any numbers from last year maybe?

Our son visited both schools (BU was originally his #1 choice), but after the tours, he felt that NEU would be a better fit. NEU has a real "campus feel" even though it is in the middle of Boston. He likes the co-op opportunities best there. Also, trudging the entire length of the BU campus in the winter snow months might be tough. NEU was more compact and has underground tunnels between a few of the main buildings.

BU was also my first love. my mother's family is from in and around boston and i grew up knowing i was going to go to BU until i visited a friend who was a student for a few days and left completely unimpressed.

after visiting both bu and northeastern i crossed them both off my list, but i just found out today i got the deans scholarship at neu- so im reconsidering... what can i say, money talks...

Zmonkeytoe,

How much money did Northeastern offer you?

i visited both..i liked them both...a lot better than BC.
bu's not an actual campus, but it's still nice...it's very urban.
neu's an actual campus, really nice...awesome buildings...but next to roxbury, a bad area in boston.

Only small part of NEU's campus borders lower roxbury which not really that bad (just an extension of the South End). Most of the campus is in the Fenway/Back Bay which is really nice (esp. the MFA through Prudential area).

Xantixgravityx, why didn't you like BC?

I visited all three. I liked Northeastern the best. They were an actual campus in the city. BC had a nice campus but a bit too religious looking and away from the city for me. You could hardly tell where the city ended and BU started when I visited there and I would rather have a nice looking campus then just something that looks like a bunch of buildings in the city.

eh personally i want that campus feeling too... but im from NY and im used to things being spread all over the place.. i dont know as of yet...BU's management program is amazing... ive seen alot of products of the program and they have SOLID jobs right now... NEU isnt really out there yet in terms of rep but in terms of coop its #1...and also, i like the campus feel too...but in any case..i dont need things to be custom fit to my wants.. im willing to give and take...and im going to visit BU during spring break..we'll see :-D and i am gonna add myself to the waitlist for NEU

Is funny hear al this treats about Northeastern having bad or not reputation. honestly out all people i know when they said they where accepted to BU , BC, UMASS all, Brandeis, tuft , and even NYU people said, “that’s good congratulations.” but when I said I was accepted to Northeastern they said, “WOW good for you that's a great school congratulations they have a great campus.” “I love it once that I was there.” Well these are expressions from faculty and staff of other colleges. So I guess is a big myth about NEU reputation being bad or none people is just being stereotyped by the ranking, but honestly and specially this year that has show being so selective i think Northeaster is placing to be the one of the top schools in the northeast. Just I guess needs more promotion nationwide

Up until recently Northeastern was a regional school. It has always been a good school but was somewhat overshawdowed by some of the more nationally known schools in the area. Times have changed though, Northeastern is now becoming more nationally known, not only for its great co-op program, but also for its amazing campus, strong faculty, and motivated students. The number of people applying has more than doubled and its national rep is rising fast. If you could buy stock in a college, Northeastern would be one the top performers on Wall Street.

i agree with maxiumus... i am sending NEU my waitlist application

Me too...just in case. Better to be safe than sorry!

i got the deans scholarship!
$7500 a year, bringing it down to only like $20,000
screw that, enjoy Boston, I'm going to Texas.
Hook 'em! anybody want my admission spot?

yeah i'll take it. thanks braggh.

Someone can have my spot :).

Maxiumus, i liked the other two bc they are urban. bc's buildings are far from each other....and going from the entrance to the admissions building was so difficult. the buildings depress me bc they look like cathedrals...bc looks like a monastery and it's colder there than in the city. just my opinion, it may be beautiful for some ppl, but i find it rather depressing.

i applied to the school of management at BU and i got in :-D so im like 60% BU 40% NEU at the moment.

i'm kind of confused. when i log into the application status thing, only a short message is listed under Change Your Major. It gives you an email if you want to change your major, but doesn't really list anything specific about my application? What does that mean? From what i've read so far, that's not the same as everyone else's.
