Things I like/hate about UCLA

Glad to know that people like qwerasdf go to CAL instead of UCLA. Makes ULA look even better.

like: School spirit, campus appearance, renowned facilities.

dislike: I agree with laurak about the whole school comparison thing. It's good to have pride in our university, but some attitudes show poor sportsmanship toward academics and athletics, like saying school X sucks. Besides that, I also dislike the traffic and the expensiveness of housing. :P

"I hate that some people always feel the need to compare UCLA to Cal and qualify/justify their school by bashing one or the other."

i would like to think it's just on collegeconfidential that people do that. cuz if you go to UCLA in real life, people don't bash cal or rarely compare. if anything, it's more like a sibling rivalry (like it should be). that's just from my own observations.

the usc thing though... that's just our rivalry. i'm sure if you go to stanford or cal, you'll hear plenty of bashing or comparision of each other. or harvard vs yale.

yale got their revenge this year: www.harvardsucks.org

You're probably right, kfc4u. It's probably just my wearing patience for some CCers ;). Either that, or that was probably the only con to UCLA I could come up with. Traffic doesn't bother me that much--I don't have a car anyway (or a license for that matter, but you know).

can't list the pros about ucla specifically.

but southern cali in general...
westwood with it's movie theaters, dining, etc.
shopping at westside pavillion. (malls elsewhere in the city of course)
7-11's all over the city. (4 in the general area of ucla)
3rd street and main street in santa monica.
the piers at santa monica and redondo beach.
griffith park (horseback riding).
chinese food in the alhambra area.
club scene in hollywood/west hollywood.
magic mountain.
Tommy's for 24 hour fast food.
Fry's Electronics.
wholesale district in downtown.
museums in the fairfax district and near usc.

lot of other stuff i probably don't know that exists. if you're into the arts, culture, theater, or club scene...the L.A. Weekly is a great (and free) newspaper to check for things to do. there's usually a lot going on at ucla also.

con: access to a car would be helpful and traffic still sucks :)

Oh boy, here goes my list:

Likes: EAP EAP EAP^10000000000000000000

The East Asian Lang Dept
CAPPP

Dislikes:
Bruin Walk
Overpriced UCLA gear
How UCLA Store sales always happen when I'm away or busy

Lol Ari, squirrels?

The squirrels at UCLA ROCK YOUR SOXXORS!!! I saw one of them steal a girl's sandwich in a split second, right next to her.

The devious bastard then proceeded to chitter at her madly after he took it. I couldn't help but laugh.

LOL, squirrels sound so funny. You'd think they'd make high-pitched squeaks or something like rodents, but they chitter like you said.

holy crap, the squirrels are INSANE. i was on the tour, and there was this crazy squirrel behind the tour guide, literally leaping around trying to get a grip on a tree, and it jumped like four feet in the air, over and over and over and its tail kept flipping into its face, rofl...i seriously thought it had rabies. it was hysterically funny, and my poor tour guide probably thought i was laughing my ass off at him.

I love the squirrels at UCLA! I want to pet their soft, fluffy tails when I meet them on Bruin Walk but they always run up the nearest tree... if only Squirrel Fishing were legal on this campus... :(

Does anybody want to post anything before this thread goes into the dump.

Likes:

Haha, I have to say I like both NORTH & SOUTH! See, I'm not biased... Then again, I graduated with a Math/Econ degree... hahaha.

I am in love with UCLA although I have been on campus for only 10 hours. I can't wait to come there, I feel lucky to have a chance to study at ucla.

Love: Acedemics, social seen, greek system, weather, my friends I have made, most anything

Hate: The people that walk slow in large groups when I am trying to get to class

"Dislikes:
Bruin Walk"

very crowded during passing periods and you'll get bombarded with propaganda, recruitment, or flyers of events. it'll take some skill to avoid the ppl who flyer on bruin walk hehe. ;)

kfc4u: wut "recruitment"? lol think of it as the gauntlet... that game was soooo fun back in 5th grade.. good times =(

yeah i hope i will "study at ucla" too. hahaha. no seirously i will..

Definitely, I might think of studying if I get the time ;)
