Things University of HK Look for in International Students

I am currently a high school student in the US hoping to study at the university of HK (I am chinese and I am planning to study language/translation.) I am also in the IB program.

I would like to know what are some sure-fire ways to get noticed when applying for HKU? other than having a good gpa, sat, act, etc. im also shooting for the 40s for IB score. I have a build-up of volunteer hours and will be applying for international scholarships as well as contests of recognition (such as the scholastic’s art & writing), joining many honor societies, trying for officer positions in said clubs, and sports.

i know HKU keeps an eye out for international students, but what will help separate me from the rest? (and while i’m at it—what are some things I should be getting into while in high school to make my record look good?)
thank you!
