I raced down to campus this afternoon to deliver my sons altered suit. His shoes are shined to perfection. We purchased some of that mens shower gel that he can't seem to live without these days. Girls were bouncing around like butterflies in their skinnies and uggs, complementing each others' hairstyles and insisting that their roommates glittery, red-carpet ready dresses were mad cute. All of this was in preparation for one of the most highly anticipated annual events on campus Winter Formal.

I cant help but feel that it would be nice to see them all as they prepare to leave for the party, dressed in their finest, and sporting their highest spirits. I imagine myself stopping them at the door, insisting on another three, four or a dozen camera shots. Ah well, such as life for a BS parent, especially a mom. Thankfully, theres Facebook sniff, sniff

Not being able to go to my son’s soccer games has been hard for me. I miss not seeing all of them play and getting to know the other parents of boy’s on the team. Seeing him play during parents weekend was a help, but I still miss it!

I experienced a lovely moment this Christmas I though other parents may enjoy.

My son, a prep at BS, came home for Christmas. In our family we usually have given the kids a little money to buy each other a present and historically they have not bought us parents anything which was fine with us( although the homemade presents from school were great.)

Anyway, my son presented us with the first presents he bought all by himself, with all his own money, without being reminded or asked. He took the bus to the local store from his school ( a first for him!) , picked the gifts and cards, brought them home and wrapped them himself. We found them under the tree on Christmas!

He was always a caring kid but never quite took these kind of steps to show his appreciation of his family. I was so touched and proud!
