Think I should stick with 17 or go for 20?

credits that is.

Since I'll be transferring, and already having an already pretty tough schedule, I'm basically wondering if I should go for 17 or 20 credits.

since HS GPA was crap, I want as many college credits as possible to show adcoms that I have the stuff to succeed.

I know once you hit 40ish or so, the HS GPA won't be weighted in as much, I'm gonna be sitting at 33 - 36~ credits

so does the 3 credits make that much of a difference?

assuming 17 credits will score me a 4.0, and 20 credits will get me a 3.8/3.9

i'd go for 17/4.0...even so, you might not get that 4.0, and with an extra class, it seems even more unlikely...besides, 17 is already over the normal 15...and its not necessarily when you hit 40, but when you've had a full year under your belt...besides, they most likely wont see your final grades for the upcoming semester until after decisions, so its better to stick with 17 IMO

Also depends on what type of class the extra 3 credits is

It'd be anything ranging from an easy class to a senior / graduate level Chinese class.

I'll probably just go with the 17. Work harder at holding a 4.0 throughout.

I say stick with 17... 20 is way too much. considering how much time needs to be spent to earn a 4.0. diversify your resume a little... add in some ecs =)

Yea, I think the extra time would be best spent on some ecs as well.

alright thanks, I'll probably use that time to work out / volunteer, and get some sleep.

Good advice from all. And good plan (post #7). I also don't think it's true that 40 credits will significantly affect how much your hs record comes into play vs. 34-37 credits.

Best of luck.
