I have been using Z inch and Fastweb to apply for some third party scholarship.

Are they reliable sites?

Any suggestions as to other places to look?

BUMP? Anyone?

The reality is that the vast majority of your scholarships are going to come from local sources (have you tried your guidance counselor?) and the schools themselves.

IMO, Fastweb is by far the best. You can always try googling specific scholarship categories (race, major, etc).

If your HS doesn’t list local scholarships, then try the websites of other near by or area high schools.

… or go to the counseling office…

how exactly should my mom sign the 1040A? and where?

Layzer, make your own thread to get an answer. Hopefully your mother knows where to sign it since she has probably filed taxes before.

@layzer … with a pen, on the dotted line

@slipknotter … yes, those are safe sources for scholarships. however everyone and their brother also has access to those sources and therefore there is significant competition for the scholarships.

My S’s GC has info on some scholarships, but then also so does the local library website.

My D applied for about 10 or so directly through guidance, as in, apps turned into guidance, as well as 5-7 more through links to outside sources on the guidance website. Anything on a national level could have 40,000 other applicants! Sure, someone will be awarded those scholarships, but it is way more of a longshot than applying for something that might be just from your own county or school district!
