Really? I only have one freshman there this year. Begins with C. If that is the case, great news for her (your D too). They are both very talented and could have gone to BFA programs but chose the BA path and so I’m not surprised they are doing so well. Congrats.

Yup - and I agree that C is very talented!

Interestingly enough, Shenandoah suggests that each kid consider minoring in Arts Management. I think it’s genius. So as they pursue a BFA in MT, they get a little aside in management and it just adds to their possibilities. No other schools we saw had this. Most said that if you are pursuing the BFA, you have little time for anything else.

True-- a MT degree does not matter a bit in the audition room. ESPECIALLY for dancers, but also for singers.
The only time it might matter, is if you were mailing in a headshot and resume, if you had studied at CCM or Cincinnati or a comparable conservatory (whether or not you actually graduated), that MIGHT get you an audition. Might. The only thing that gets you a job is your skills (or if you are a famous tv person – 'nother story entirely).

Even though I have NEVER heard ANYONE ask someone in an audition if they had a degree, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t study what you love, whether at college or not. Silly to get a degree in something you hate as a day job skill.
