Grades: I'm particularly very worried about my grade in Accounts because it hasn't been very high at all (average in the 40-50s; B's). This is very frustrating to me, considering that my I chose this subject when I didn't want to take up Business management at all, but had to due to societal pressure. To make up for this grade, I was considering having this teacher write me a letter of recommendation. Do you think that would help much?

Go for the recommendation letter, but don’t stress the excuse too much. College will involve many classes that you don’t want to take, but need to. Make sure you take your SAT as soon as you can so you can take it again if need be, take the subject tests as well. Your GPA might be slightly low for some schools on this list. More so the Ivies. But your EC’s look great! And focus hard on essays.

Thank you so much MaddyDUMW. I wanted to know how taking the SAT subject tests help you at getting a better chance?

A lot of these schools will reject you for the sole fact that you can only play $5,000. That’s 1/2 of a years worth of room and board. And for some of them, even if you did get in, you wouldn’t be able to afford them. However, you should push for your SAT to be between 2100 and 2400 because you are an international student

@nepali11‌ The subject tests will help colleges see how you preform in exams on subjects other than what’s offered on the SAT, what’s you intended major? Colleges especially will like it if your subject tests revolve around what you want to major in (for example, if you want to major in engineering, take a physics subject test and a Math subject test). This will give colleges a good idea whether you’ll succeed in college and in your classes.

Scratch NYU and the UCs off your list; their financial aid for internationals is abysmal. I think Brown would be your best Ivy League fit (while Barnard grants you access to resources at Columbia, going to Columbia itself is going to have a large number of courses you may not wish to take) since you’ll then have complete freedom in your non-concentration coursework.
