Do u think I have a shot at a decent school with this:

I am one of the top 10 students in my class.
I have made all As and only one B sophomore year (1st semester) in high school.
For ECs, I don't have anything dramatic:
- helped coach middle school tennis team ( only for one year)
- dance every year for local festivals (not at an actual dance academy though) (very passionate about it and want to minor in it)
- high school tennis team (only 2 yrs)
- dance team (freshman year)
- math field day team (every year)
- outstanding junior student science award recipient
- TREK program ( a summer program where u do research and lab work at the local college biotech building)
- Cabell County Honors Program
- National Honor Society
- I am planning on becoming president of the Spanish honorary and biology honorary
- Key Club (one year)
- will become part of physics honorary and chem honorary this coming up year
- MU Aplha Theta (math club)

Also, I don't know if there is a section of an application where u list interesting things about urself or unique things u have done in the past but if so, I could say I am black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

I also forgot to mention that I have taken honors courses each year and ap courses junior year and plan on taking them again this upcoming senior year.

The only problem is my ap scores were not excellent and I do not know how much they r considered in the admissions process. I made a three in bio and a four in pysch.

My sat score was also not great at all. I made an 1810. However, it was my first time and I am sure that it will rise when I retake it this fall.

Sorry again about the long post and I really appreciate u all reading it!

You have no GPA or what courses you took. You didn’t give any AP scores. We cannot chance you if you don’t give us an academic background, not just a EC list.

Sorry! My unweighted GPA is 3.99 due to that one stupid B! My weighted as of right now is a 4.67 but that will go up as I am entering my senior year. Also, I mentioned the passed AP scores above.

Here is my schedule for the past three years of high school:

Freshman:
Honors english
Spanish 2
Gym
Honors world history
Band (dance team) (2 periods)
Geometry honors
Physical science honors

Sophomore year:
Algerba 2 honors
Health
Biology honors
Chemistry
US history honors
English 10 honors
Spanish 3 honors

Junior:
AP Pysch (online)
AP Biology
Debate 1 honors
AP US History
Trig honors
Human Anatomy and Physiology honors
AP English Language

Thanks!

Could you give us some schools you’re thinking of, so we can chance you?

Is your high school academically competitive at all? I am assuming that you are taking the most rigorous courses in order to get into at least decent schools so having no AP’s as a sophomore is shocking. Other than dancing, I can not tell what you are interested in or what you want to be studying in college. The highest science course that you took was AP Biology and not even AP Physics B or AP Chemistry. I’d honestly say that you have a good chance at schools like maybe Arizona State University or Boston University. Good luck!

You sound totally awesome to me! I’m a mom, and I would be over-the-top proud of you. GPA 3.99? Please! No need to say ‘only.’ Find your place, your niche. And, I would not write ‘u’, spell things out and be professional. It matters. Go to the financial aid forum, or other forums and post your situation, and ask for advice. You have a promising future ahead!

Dartwannabe, this year I am planning on taking:

AP Chem
Physics honors
AP Lit
AP Calc
AP Gov

Thanks for ur comments guys. Oh and 77Choco, I will write out everything in my essay. The “u” and all that was just shorthand for the post. The reason I posted this is because I am not sure what colleges I should look into. I mean, honestly, does this even seem Ivy League caliber or should I stick with local state colleges? I know some spectacular people who have been rejected to ivy leagues so that make me wonder whether I should even consider applying to them at all. I live in WV so as you can imagine, its generally not highly competitive here and there aren’t any widely heard of high schools here. However, I feel as though my school is decently competitive. Also, to answer your other questions, I plan on majoring in pre-med and minoring in dance (not sure what kind yet). Sorry, didnt realize how many things I forgot to mention in this chance me. Let me know if you need to know anything else; and please be brutally honest if you must. I would like to know my actual chances and I won’t be disappointed even if it is something I don’t want to hear. Thanks everyone! I appreciate it!
