This is a question about IB

I am doing 1 or 2 IB classes next year, 11th grade. It will be English, and i am considering history. I love US history, and APUSH would be the other option. Does IB cover mainly US history or what? Just want to make the right choice.

IB barely covers US history; more of world history. The reason for this is that IB is not based in the US, but actually from Sweden. Go online, and check out the syllabus for IB history. Just type in, IB HL/SL syllabus for history and I’m sure dozens of pages will pop up. Research and you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Go for it though. Doing IB history gets you a lot of points. Remember to do the IB course that corresponds to what you want to do in college though.

If you want to study Economics, Business or such subjects, then Math or Econ would be a good option.
At the same time, if you want to do Engineering, then Physics, Math and whatever field of engineering you want to go to would be a good option.

Goodluck!

Keep in mind that IB gives teachers a lot of options about what they want to cover within the curriculum. You should ask the IB history teacher at your school what topics they cover.

I take IB HOA (History of the Americas) right now. This is year one of the two year IB History course. HOA spends equal time on North and South America, focusing on colonial periods, independence movements, and post-independence periods (basically 1500-late 1800’s). We alternate each unit North and South America. It is a fast paced class; we get through a lot of material in a short amount of time. It is time consuming, but I personally love the class.

The second year course is IB 20th Century Topics, basically focusing on circumstances in that century (duh) like World Wars, Communism, Cold War, etc.

Oh and the difference between SL and HL–the class themselves are equivalent, but the exams aren’t. HL includes info from HOA as well as Topics, SL only focuses on Topics.
