so i live in so cal (orange county) and everyone i know has gotten either a scholarship or a no scholarship letter. i, on the other hand, haven't gotten either. i called in and she said my application was "still in review." i didn't get a request for mid years either (not that i really wanted one seeing as my senior year grades aren't as good as my last years).

they probably don't even care about my application anymore. :(

haha ya totally, wow i live in orange county too, south orange county, and basically ya my boyfriend, best friend, and like five other people at my school have gotten in and have gotten trustee's or presidential, I did get the no scholarship letter, but I am still dying to know too, when I first signed up on cc I went through a state of depression myself, lol no joke either, it was horrible, luckily I'm okay now, but I guess we just have to do our best to be patient and wait... and realize that if we don't get in we can always do spring admit, or transfer after a year at a cc. Which major did you apply to?

okay and the dumb thing is i was looking at last year posts and everyone in the exact same situation as me didn't get in :( (all 3 of them haha).

aww you don't know that for sure yet, you won't know till late march or early april, and I mean I applied to film production which is just as equally hard to get into if not harder, I mean I think we still definetely have a chance. Did you apply for any of the Alumni scholarships?

nope. the only one i was gonna do was town and gown buut i sort of forgot. haha.

the usc rep who came to our school told us that people don't get accepted into a certain major, they get accepted to the school first. basically, they accept everyone they want at the school and then place them into the majors accordingly. so supposedly, apply for film/business is equalto applying for... oh let's say... polish literature (no offense to anyone's who's actually polish. i don't even know if it exists. just the first thing that came to my mind). but then he said that's why some people get admitted but not into the major they want.

hmm ookay, ya i applied for the alumni club scholarship... I doubt I'll get it, but I wish that I could that way I could find out earlier...

What kind of stats do you have? You don't need to say exactly (mine arne't that great, and I really don't feel like posting them lol, honestly I think the two things that will really help me are the fact that I took a film and digital cinematography class at USC the summer before my senior year and got my USC teacher to write me a letter of rec, everything else is okay, but certainly not steller like most of the kids on cc who are in)

sat I: 2250
sat II: math: 750, us history: 720, chinese: 760
GPA: honestly i do not remember but i had a 4.4 weighted average junior year? i don't stare at my unweighted because it's horrifically low. i had poor grades freshman year which were partly due to family circumstances and whatnot which i wrote about in my essays..

my recs should have been pretty well written. my business rec was great.

umm. i had a lot of ec's. active in clubs, community service, and 4 years in orchestra.

honestly though, my school's a bit weird. it's a magnet school and one of the top schools in the US. usc understands our school pretty well and soo far, i'd say we've already had 20+ acceptances. the people who get scholarships at my school probably have lower gpas compared to many but that's because my school's pretty challenging and different from normal highschools.

i'd love to say "you're going to get it scarlet!" but my friends and i all decided that we hate that phrase. it sucks if you don't, you know? people get your hopes up. instead, i'm going to say "i want you to get in and best of luck to you :)."

your situation if better than mine though. at least you've heard from sc :(. i haven't gotten anything. i'm sure they've already decided to reject me...

Ya lol I know what you mean, I guess I've already hit my lowest of lows and only feel like being optimistic, sorry :]. But best of luck to you too, i want you to get in too ;]. You know though USC's mailing system is pretty weird, I got an email from them saying they were going to send me financial aid info by mail, that was 4 days ago, I mean USC isn't that far... why does the mail take so long? Maybe your mail is just really slow... :)
They haven't rejected anyone yet either, that's what I've heard.

i think they turned out pretty good... i'm not too confident in my writing skills though seeing as i don't have any. haha

well i wrote my long one about my dad under the "people who've changed and influenced you" prompt and i wrote my short ones on orchestra and my internship at an R/D firm.

i'm pretty sure they won't reject anyone yet... i mean, it's way too early.

i thought i had slow mail too but EVERYONE (okay almost everyone haha. at least everyone i've asked) has gotten something from sc so i'm suspicious...

plus the lady said my app was still in review..

i was digging through old posts and i found this. can you access it?

well that sounds pretty good, and I mean considering you did very well on the SAT it seems to me you have pretty good writing skills :]. I wrote mine on something you're passionate about: for me that's filmmaking, then I wrote about how my most important activity is ASB, and then how I want to be a part of Trojan Vision (their tv station) if I get in, I was very specific with what I wanted... I just hope they didn't get tired of my "passion for filmmaking" lol

If you are not below a 3.7uw, you are looking fine. Your SAT will help. There is no way you are in the "rejection pile" at this point. I think you will get in.
(I bet you go to Troy.)
