this is not good...

Ok, well I finished my FAFSA by the Jan 20th deadline...

I finished my CSS PROFILE ages ago, but then my mom came up to me today asking for my CSS username so she could update some things... I was like... "update what? they were already sent a long time ago... .... .... right?"

She didn't send them. I reminded her nearly everyday and 3 times on Jan 20th and she said they were all sent...I would have sent them myself if she hadn't told me she sent them!!!
USC has been my dream for a looonnng time...

so I'm way past the deadline... i applied by the scholarship deadline... i'm screwed, arent i?

youre not screwed.

you just wont get any money....ull still probably get in.

what?!

my parents adjusted gross income is $0.

I may as well not get in... cause I won't be affording it...

this is awful...this is so awful...this is the worst thing that could happen...oh my gosh....

It's only the 26th, don't stress out. It's not terribly late. And determining scholarships is a diff process than for fin aid. So you could potentially get a full scholarship and then you wouldn't have to worry about late fin aid forms.

um... there's no deadline. On the application booklet that they send you they basicaly say the earlier the better, it probably won't affect the amount of money you get, they just want it in a timely manner so they can calculate your EFC earlier. Nowhere does it say that it is due on the January 20th, it's just a recommended date. If you're late they advise you to turn it in ASAP.

ok.

i think i nearly imploded.

i went to the admissions site and it said that if i wasnt turned in by the deadline of Jan 20th they couldnt garaunteed they'd have a fin aid plan by May 1st....

not so bad...

wow... i'm starting to regain my sanity...

AGI of ZERO??? No offense, but they might run those numbers again if they have jobs and real income of $40,000 or more. On the other hand, if they have less than $40K income, you have very good scholarship opportunities if you apply to rich schools.

yeah, i was stressed out too since i turned in my CSS PROFILE on January 21. But after reading my booklet, i got some reassurance. Besides, i hear they don't start doing the calculating until February, they just want people to do it earlier otherwise people will procastinate come Feb. and the CSS profile and the Fafsa isn't something you can do in 30 minutes =)

I heard the ACTUAL deadline is February 15th, but they state January 20th because people are...people.

I might be 1000000% wrong so...lol

weski: they don't have jobs. hence $0.

HAHAHA that was funny
the freaking out and then "my parents g.a.i. is 0"
like a punch line rofl
good luck my man

hey man, ive been there done that. i was in your shoes, i missed a ton of deadlines. the fin aid at office at USC is f#cking spectacular, they really work with you, not against you. dont expect any real bueracracy or red tape. even though i missed ceratin deadlines by MONTHS, i still got plenty of aid, and my situation was really awkward.

I hope you have someone in your school counselor's office who is experienced in not only college admissions but also financial aid & can make calls on your behalf. If not your counselor, perhaps a friendly teacher or pastor. Assuming your family is unable to help financially in any way, you may be better off than having family income of $50k. Assuming you can get a "full ride" from a rich school, do not forget your living & possible transportation expenses from the equation. Look into p/t jobs at school, which have special tax breaks. Best wishes!
