This is the most over asked question but...

I'm going absolutely insane because I cannot contact admissions regarding my schedule change.
First, let me introduce myself. I'm Kat and I am a third year transfer. I was just recently admitted to UCI as a psychology major. Currently, I am taking a General Chemistry class that I can not handle. I have a D in that class and my last test score was a fat F. Since this class is not a prereq, would it be ok to drop it? I've already messaged my counselor... However, I received an automated message basically saying that they are too busy and may not be able to help me decide what to do.
I've tried calling admissions but no one can help and will not transfer me to a counselor. I'm basically left to make my own decision and possibly suffer the consequences. Unsure what to do...Anyone with answers or knowledge in this area...please help!

If it’s not general ed or prereq…can you pass no pass and pull a C-?

@mortimerC I afraid I can’t do that. My professor was pretty realistic with me. He advised that I drop the class. I also don’t want a C on a class that will be very important for my future grad program…It just sucks

I was sort of in your predicament, but I had taken the next level of math just to see if I could get ahead (I could not) and ended up dropping the class. It’s better to drop the class than to fail. From what I hear, it’s possible the school will change their decision if they hear you failed a class the semester prior to transferring. Good luck

@Eltwong Thanks. I was already planning to drop the class but I don’t know what’s holding me back. I’m kind of screwed either way unless admissions allows me to drop this class. I have already done everything they’ve asked me. Kind of stupid of me to try and take a difficult class before transferring…

@Kayvuvu -It wouldn’t be a C it would be a P, and you’d keep the units. If the class doesn’t matter, then drop it.
