So I leave for college tomorrow, more specifically band camp, and I'm pretty nervous. Like my stomach is in knots and everything. I have this... Umm... Teddy bear... Lol. I've had it for almost 17 years and it's like a comfort thing. So uhh... Did anyone else bring a comfort item from home such as this? Don't be mean lol I'm just wondering.

are you a guy or girl? The former will probably take **** for having it, the latter won’t. Pretty much everyone brings at least one thing from home that is some sort of “comfort” item, it’s just that some are more subtle than others.

I’m leaving for college on Monday and I am bringing 1 stuffed animal also (a dog).

I brought what I term a comfort item, but it’s a book. My roommate had a giant stuffed dog she slept with every night. It should all be fine, don’t worry too much about it.

I agree, a guy is more likely to hear crap for it (but if you ignore it, or laugh about it too it won’t be an issue) a girl…won’t be a big deal at all!

No, there isn’t anything wrong with one stuffed animal…if you want to bring like 20, then that might be too much for college (not to mention the space they take up). I just picked a medium-sized one, because large ones take up too much space and my stuffed animal I take will now only have that twin-sized college bed to sit on, whereas at home stuffed animals have plenty of space to sit on my full-sized bed.

I am a girl, and it’s just your average size stuffed bear.

It definitely wont be an issue then. Just today I saw a girl’s dorm room with a Teddy bear. Looked perfectly fine.

Nope, it’s no big deal. Heck I even know guys with stuffed animals. The only ones who get crap are those who try to hide it. The guys who are proud of their stuffed animal, for lack of a better phrase, will rarely get any crap from anyone. Most girls that I know have one.

It’s ironic that iluvpiano is saying that if you bring 20 stuffed animals it will be too much but she says she will be taking 100 shorts and 400 shirts to college along with 150 shoes.

Don’t even worry about it. Just smile if anyone makes fun of you and laugh at yourself. If they tease you, go with it and tease yourself. Don’t even worry.

I bring a couple of stuffed animals, but they’re normally for decoration. Like others have said, I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deal.

Years ago, my roommate brought one. I thought nothing of it. She also had these gigantic pink fuzzy slippers that she wore all over the dorm that everyone loved.

The thing with stuffed animals is that there’s nowhere to put a bunch of them, unless they’re really small and can sit on your desk (or the floor, but personally I don’t like them to sit on dirty floor). Haha, no I’m not bring 100 shorts and 400 shirts…that’s quite an exaggeration still. Yeah I’m bringing a lot of shoes, but not even close to 150. I considered bringing the stuffed dog plus a couple other small ones, but it might just be the dog. Maybe I’ll bring 1-2 other small ones along, and if I can’t find a good home for them, then I’ll have my parents take them back home.

@OP - No. I’m still loyal to my blanky that I got when I was 5 years old. But I wouldn’t bring her (yeah it’s a she) because she might get damaged or lost.

^You sound like my sister. Her blanky has a gender, too! I call it “it.”

I can understand that. My bear has a gender and a name and I like to think a personality lol

My stuffed animals have a gender and name too, but it just sounds a little more odd for a blanky to me for some reason, but it’s fine, not a big deal.

I think it’s because the stuff animals have a face, and a blanky does not lol. Faces help us make things human.

I have a tiny stuffed walrus that I won from a festival in germany… It used to smell like beer.
