Is this school still one of the best? Its so quiet on this forum! Just wondering info is help.

I have wondered why there aren’t more postings for Oklahoma too. We were fortunate to see one of their recent grads perform in Top Hat in London this summer, it was a leading role that required a true triple threat performer and she did a lovely job. They also have some current students my daughter has had the opportunity to work with that are very talented. Perhaps they haven’t realized the impact of posts on College Confidential? Some schools have current students and professors that post fairly frequently, they are helpful and post some great information about their programs, I think it generates a lot of talk and good PR for their schools! I don’t think it means their programs are better…you just hear more about them!

okie dokie, thanks so much!

Hi, folks! I’m currently an OU MT freshman and I’m absolutely in love with the school. I too have realized that there isn’t much out there about my program so I think I’ll change that! So out of more than 1200 perspectives that the faculty sees they accept less than 1% of them (my class has 12 people in it). I’ve been here for 7 months now and have changed as a performer drastically! The faculty members are insanely knowledgable and either are or have been working professionals. Their connections to people working in the industry are also pretty impressive. There are endless opportunities to learn here. I’m only in my second semester and I’ve already had the opportunity to work with 2 Tony Award winning actresses and a specialist in the Alexander technique. Many other programs seem to have a strong suite or an area of performance at which they excel like producing phenomenal singers or dancers. I honestly can say that OU focuses on the performer as a whole. There isn’t any area of the art form that I feel is being neglected. The students here are so talented and, luckily, we don’t have an ego problem like other schools. Everyone is extremely supportive of one another. They’re all people that others want to work with and do. The number of alumnus working on broadway or touring is constantly growing. With all this being said, I will say that it takes a special kind of person to be in this program. We are worked to the bone here and are put through the ringer regularly. But, the payout is well worth it and for someone seeking a long-lasting and successful career in the industry, I don’t think it should be any other way. I’m happy with my choice. I believe it was the right one. I hope this is helpful! If you have any questions, please feel free!
