Hello, I just wanted opinions of TESU. I thought it seemed okay.
Plus, If I do attend it, I would like to transfer out to a school like Rutgers. Would it be likely for me to get in to (like) Rutgers if I do that or no?
TESU is popular with many non-traditional/adult students, but it fills a specific niche. The school is regionally-accredited, so it’s a step up in reputation from the nationally-accredited for-profit universities. However, the credits are earned primarily through testing (CLEP, DANTES, etc.), existing transfer credit, prior learning assessment, and online courses to cover whatever credits haven’t been earned by the prior methods. It’s “get a degree fast through self-directed study and testing”, not “get a degree at the regular pace through teaching”.
It’s a great option for those who just need a degree fast (e.g. for a better salary at work, or for admission to a not-very-selective graduate program). However, if your goal is transfer to a more selective institution, or admission to a more-selective graduate program, I wouldn’t recommend it. I recommend looking at local 4-year or community colleges instead, where you can have the benefit of in-person learning and building faculty relationships. Ultimately, it is a matter of choosing the school that will build the best foundation for your future academic plans.
Look at other NJ state schools like Ramapo, Montclair… I’m assuming ou’re a NJ resident.
Thomas Edison isn’t really designed for students who plan to transfer (to Rutgers or TCNJ especially).
