<p>The process was changed to “modified rolling” this year and the Binghamton admissions people worked very hard through most of the process to keep it a secret that “modified rolling” meant “get your app in early and if you’re in-state, you’ll hear at some point when we feel like it but after out of state students.” We were all told very different things at admissions sessions and in phone calls. They decided that they were going to put in-state students at a disadvantage in terms of notificiation (note that I’m not talking about admission) and keep it a secret by saying otherwise. That IS dishonest and disrespectful and, what’s more, they know it. My school’s GC has spoken to people at Bing who have told her that they know they handled things badly, that there’s a lot of anger, and that they will likely do things differently (in terms of notification) going forward.</p>

<p>So what do you make of an OSS that has not received an admissions decision yet and also has not applied for any financial aid? Do you think at this point Bing is not “wooing” this student and this student will most likely receive a rejection letter down the road?</p>

FYI…I got my financial package from Geneseo today!!</p>
<p>I was put on the Geneseo select waitlist with guaranteed admission Spring 2011, but Binghamton is my first choice. I have only received one financial aid package so far, from Hofstra. Haven’t received anything yet from my other seven schools.</p>

I have to wonder why some Instate got in with much lower SATs…
Maybe we still have hope…</p>

<p>I have to be honest, I don’t think there’s any hope for people who got the message that my daughter did and she has much higher stats than many of the kids have indicated who did get in. But, for us, she really didn’t like the campus, so we’re not upset. But I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your family!</p>
