Those of you who got 700+ on SAT Physics

How'd you do it? or was it just by studying? I wanna get at least 700+, more specifically 750+...

Any suggestions on books to buy/websites to go to? Thanks. :P

The physics test has a very nice grading curve. I don't think you need to do a huge amount to prepare. Basically I took one practice test and then took the exam. I did do a little bit of extra work simply because I was in the IB and hadn't covered parts of the test syllabus. I'm not saying to do nothing, just don't stress too much about it.

What score did you get on your practice test and then on the real test? What prep book did you take your practice test from

I don't really remember. I think I used Barrons or Princeton Review but I don't remember my practice test scores. I know I got a 790 on the real exam though.

try to keep away from Kaplan, the highest score you can get from studying Kaplan's book cover to cover is about a 650-700

prep for the exam? should i take it after only 2 months in honors physics? can i prepare on my own and still get 700+?

bluedevil507: NOOOO

lol thought so..just making conversation

Do you need a teacher to help you score? If you master the test prep books like Sparknotes and Princeton, would that be enough for the real exam? And what extra course material did you use to understand the material better? The explanations in the test books aren't great.

got an 800 last may at the 93th percentile, so i guess the curve is pretty low. I was taking AP physics B and we pretty much covered the entire Giancoli book, so the questions (mostly concepts) seemed pretty easy

btw i used a barrons ap book and a kaplans sat book. Kaplan mighht have been a little too easy, i think

If you want only 750+ thats not too hard...
I thought I bombed it coming out and I got a 750.. but thats only 79%ile
Now theres a HUGE difference between that and an 800 (like 10-15 questions more)

This might be a dumb question but do you take the Physics test after only one year of high school physics?

well I took the physics after half a year. basically i studied the Princeton review and kaplan books cover to cover.

Got a 750, which is okay I guess (If I knew more about modern physics I would have done much better)

Sure you can take it over just one year of honors physics
the curve is so sweet that if you just prep a little of what you didnt learn, youll be fine for 700+

Excellent, actually my teacher just told me that he didn't know any of his students to make less than a 700, so I think I'm good.
