Guys I am so confused right now ... I am an international student who applied to sjsu. My admission status showed decision letter in the mail.. After I emailed the school 3 times they told me I am REJECTED because I did not meet their csu freshman admission requirement .They told me I can appeal against the decision and the deadline is 15th January. When I checked the csu requirement list I couldnt figure out which one I was unable to satisfy. I again mailed them but no reply.....If I had not mailed them again and again then I may have missed the deadline.... Now what should I write in the appeal letter to the school as I dont know which requirement I couldnt satisfy...... Really careless on the part of the school...

Phone call time. Find out why you did not meet requirements, tell them you really want to attend, and have a discussion.

Thats one solution but they should have informed me on time on their own

Is the application deadline Jan 15 or the appeal deadline?

If you think you meet every requirement, then list the requirements and how you meet them in your appeal. Even it it seems obvious, just list them. Example:

GPA requirement: 3.2 - my gpa is 3.5
Science requirement- 2 with labs - I have taken chemistry (lab), physics (lab), anatomy (lab) and earth science
Math requirement - 4 years - I have taken alg, alg II, geo., calc

just answer their questions without anger, even if you think it is clear

Stay calm and clear-headed…do as post #4 said…you have three days for your appeal. It could be a simple administrative error either on their part or your part…show you have met all the requirements and ask for a new decision. Calmly, clearly, and now! Good luck!
I would also print out your final email and mail it tomorrow…both email and post mark will be January 13…

appeal deadline is jan 15…which they did not inform…anyways I am going to stick with post 4 bu the problem is that many things are different in our country like we do not have gpa we do not get scored in grades like A , C… Will they understand?

Well, there must have been some way you were sure that you met all the requirements in the first place…reiterate these and show how you did meet them…regardless of whose fault it was and when or not they told you, you have to concentrate on the appeal now…do the things in post #4 today…call tomorrow, adjust your email according to what they tell you and submit…

Yeah you are right sdgal2… Thanks a lot for your opinions guys. I really value them

Have you checked your transcript very carefully? Errors and omissions are not uncommon. Even if you saw one from your Jr year it’s good practice to review your transcript to ensure it’s accurate at the beginning of your Sr year before it’s sent. It may not be the colleges fault at all. They can only evaluate what’s on your transcript they were sent by your school.
