Rice1961, I just asked my daughter. She said she would go to Santa Monica CC and live at USC with other spring admits. There are lots of apartments near campus- Tuscany, 27th Place, Gateway.

Also, there are positives to waiting to rush until sophomore year. The girls have a chance to get to know the sororities during spring semester. My daughter felt she joined the house that was the perfect fit for her. She’s not sure that would have happened if she had rushed as a freshman.

Actually, no one can tell you are a spring admit the minute you step foot on the campus. If USC is your dream school don’t hesitate to accept spring. Totally worth it.

I’m also a Spring Admit. Though I think I will be missing out the “freshman experience,” there will be other spring admits.
I’m planning to fulfill some of the GE requirements at CC before entering in Spring.
It would be great if someone started a FB group or something just for the spring admits (or has it already been started?) so when we arrive to USC, we at least have someone to talk to…

i got the same thing today, and i want to appeal for fall admission, but im not entirely sure what all i need to do. Can anyone explain that please?

The pamphlet makes clear that USC highly discourages petitioning for a fall admit. In facts, it says burdening the ad coms with a petiion would be “inappropriate.”

They definitely discourage appeals for spring admits. They consider that you have been admitted to the university already. Being bumped to fall is basically a numbers game. The number of spaces that became available in your major equals the number of people who get bumped from spring to fall. Last year, all the spring admits that were business or undeclared got bumped. No one from Annenberg was bumped. It all depends on the numbers.

wow…shame on you guys for not being as thankful as you should be. Im on friggin cloud 9 right now for getting a spring admission!!! Still pinching myself even though i got my letter yesterday!!! Literally for me, the only downside is not getting to go to the football games in the fall.

Question though about spring admit, Can i go to say Pepperdine or chapman for the 1st semester??? or would it just be better to go to cc? I would obviously save money going to cc but could i go to say pepperdine if i wanted to?

ALSO, how do i enroll? im literally dying to become a trojan!!!

Spring admits are eligible for football tickets. That could be a deal breaker. I’m still unsure about the whole system. I’d like of like to find a dorm and have a couple months of college without the work type feel (haha, doesn’t that sound nice?) and get a job and work on personal projects rather than taking CC classes, but I might be able to apply a few AP credits too. So, if I go to USC, I’ll try and work this out.

hahah me too completely. Even if i cant take classes in the fall, it would still be chill to just kick it over at SC and do all the social stuff.

All you spring admits should search the forum for past threads on spring admits. My S was a spring admit to SCA who started in Spring 2010 & today is a 200 percent Trojan, happy as could be possible. This is his dream school and major. Frankly, he was pretty burned out & stressed out by working so hard on many fronts in high school and it was probably a lot better for his health than going directly into college.

does anyone know if spring admts can still get involved in clubs/co-curriculars during the fall?
Though at first I was slightly taken aback by the thought of starting a semester later, I am beginning to feel like this is actually a pretty sweet option.

My daughter is a spring admit for Annenburg. Does this mean she is admitted directly into the college of journalism or applies after so many credits?

Alright guys, I’m a spring admit too, and at first I was super bummed. But now that I think about it this can’t be that bad, at least I’m admitted. I think someone should start a facebook group and consider making arrangements for next fall!

D was considering a gap year anyway, USC seems to allow a deferral of start for up to a year, so it seems that D’s easy solution it to defer her start until next fall? Am I correct?
