I of course would like to go to UofM as 1st choice.
Filling out apps, for several Midwest schools, Big 10 etc...

Hopefully I recieve positive replies from most, is there a appreciable difference between schools like Penn State, NW, Iowa.
I see the rankings difference, wondering if can not get UofM, ND, University of Chicago etc... then is the best choice target best "feel" at the given Campus?

3.82 GPA presently in my Senior year and 163 LSAT decent EC Varsity Sport Captain, and Frat President. MIAA private School

My mistake, actually listed ND as a target school for not only Academic Reasons as high on my list.

NW is a great school and would love to be accepted.
I believe NW is actually rated higher than ND.

My real question is there a significant difference between the majority of the Big 10 after U of M, NW. The majority all look to be quality schools, with possibly MSU a little lower and improving from what I can glean from multiple sources of info.

Your LSAT score is a little low for Michigan ranked #9 (166 is the bottom 25%) and Chicago ranked #6 (169 is bottom 25%) and you are just eeking in the bottom 25% at ND.

If a retake is not in your future, apply early as early as possible, perhaps even ED at ND, if that is your first choice.

Make sure you would be OK living in that particular state. IU is a wonderful law school, but be prepared for many of the jobs being in Indianapolis. Same with the other schools with the exception of Northwestern and Michigan. Wisconsin will get you into MN job market, too.

Penn State is still sort of new and building its reputation and alumni compared to some of the other Big Ten schools. However, it IS on the rise in the rankings and could easily become the second best school in Pennsylvania.

I am considering the LSAT a second time, though I do feel I could test again until Feb 2010 and give the LSAT the honest effort it will require for me to improve. The Fall 2009 test dates are in the middle of the Season and with Practice, games, travel and my Frat responsibilities I am already working hard to stay on track with my grades and to the complete Senior papers required for my majors. I will graduate 1 semester early December 2009.

If I retake the LSAT in Feb 2010 the delay in waiting for the results may put me out of the running for Fall 2010 entrance into the higher level targets schools.

I would like to stay in the Great Lakes / Midwest area.
I have applied to some and have also applied ED to targets locations.

My decisions may be made for me anyways by the process, because if I do not get accepted to my target schools, I am leaning towards the Feb 2010 test.

I will continue to review the majority of the Law Schools in my target area, as well as the resources that rate, and review the same.

I would still focus more on the location and ranking than “feel.” Where you go has a dramatic effect on where you can work, so you may eventually need to decide which state (rather than region) you’re most interested in.
