I have read different replys on how Villanova does not do interviews. I fully understand that there are no interviews but I need to know where I "might" stand. Thoughts and feedback are good so please help.

I went on two tours, one normal the other was in the specific college I want to study in.

I have to say out of all the colleges I have been to Villanova really impressed me, I felt like I was at a friends house. There were 6 people that helped me as I did my thing. Without giving up too much detail I can say that before I sat in on a class the professor sat down with me and we talked for a short time. There were 5 other meetings much like this, I was there from 10:30 to 2:30. I don't know if this will have any decission impact on my application but I know it's the school I want to attend.

My essay was super, I know this because after working on it for a month (for real, lots of edits). I also had someone I know (adult, lawyer type) go over it for me. I'm in the top 17% of my class, NHS, letters in three sports, captain of a team, lots of community activity, SAT wellllllll not so good math 640 reading 560(ouch). I think the reading might keep me on the out, GPA 3.65 unweighted.

74% of Freshman had math SAT above 600 , 71% of Freshman had CR SAT above 600.

You have to make a compelling case to admissions for an acceptance , strong essays and strong High School sports career will help , but remember in the context of the applicant pool , admissions will see many great essays and many applicants with strong High School sports careers.

What about you will make you stand out when the admissions committee reviews your application?
Good Luck…

Wow, thank you islandgal & Ulysses this makes me feel better. I’m really conservative with my thoughts and where I stand. I shot myself in the foot by not preping for the SAT. I wanted to know how I would do just knowing what I know.

I read all the time and math has always been my friend so where the math felt good the reading portion was a shock.

Islandgal, yes I do take AP’s and hold a “A’s” I hope that helps. I want to get into the engineering school but now I’m really worried.

I’m hoping along with the information on my application, the resume I sent, my teachers review (WOW Glowing WOW), essay, community service, sports, and my personal visit to the school will tell the admissions committee I want to be there. I made sure that I wrote a thank you letter to each person that interacted with me. I also made each letter specific to each person. It took some time but for what Villanova offers it was the least I could do.

I hope being in the 74% range of the math will help the lower range of the reading. 540 is not a far cry from the 600 71% range.

It’s nice just knowing that I have a chance. I have other offers on the table but this is what I truly want. We shall see, if I get it wonderful; if I don’t get it well that’s okay it was just not meant to be and I’ll do well wherever I go. I’m a very confident person, I don’t make it easy for someone to tell me there is something I can’t do. Game on!! If Villanova give me the offer I’ll be sure to show them that I’m well worth the choice. Give me a chance and I will produce, have no doubt.

Am I confident? You bet I am!! Do I carry my pride with me? Absolutely not there are others to respect and consider… I have something to offer and I want to share that with Villanova.

@RUKidding Like I said before, your stats are pretty strong if your GPA includes the AP classes then that’s a good thing. They look at the difficulty of your curriculum, not just your GPA so don’t worry yet. I was accepted EA to Villanova engineering and it is definitely in my top 2. I think you will get in too. I’m crossing my fingers for you:)

With the feedback from you and Ulysses, I’m feeling good. Congrats on the EA. I also went EA but fully expected to get pushed to RD, I just wanted to be sure my application got a good look.

Im sure if you got EA your background is impressive. Good luck, maybe we will be together for that freshman engineering class that I got to sit in on when I visited. While I was there I meet up with a friend. I was told all about the visiting day when all the student line the path for the new incoming class. Sound like a good time.

It was very funny how they lined up and cheered for us. Everyone is very friendly on campus (even the students not trying to recruit us). I’m torn between Nova and Udel. Waiting for the financial info to come out in the next couple of weeks from them. That will really help me make a decision. I’m doing Chem E, did you apply under a specific Engineering degree or Undecided Engineering. Picking a specific major seems to help your chances from what I heard. You can always change it later. Keep us posted on how you make out.
