Wondering About Villanova

I am thinking about applying to Villanova but have not visited. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they like or don't like about it...it seems like a really great school, but I haven't talked to anyone who goes there/knows a lot about it. Thanks!

Villanova is a great place with great academics, hopeful. I am glad your are considering applying here. I am a freshman...

Are there any alums out there who can speak to internships, help with job placement or graduate school placement?

Novastudent - What would you say ragarding the no. of international students on campus? Also how's the social scene at Villanova?
Thanx.

mellowjello - Villanova is made up of MANY international students. I can tell you that just among my closest friends, I know a girl from Italy and another from Scotland. The most represented country (sort of) is Puerto Rico - I have a student from Puerto Rico in each of my classes. I don't want to give you an exact number because I am not totally sure of it and I dont want you to come to find that I was wrong - but I would have to say that considering the size of Villanova's student body (6000 undergrads), the percentage of international students is the same relative to most large universities with large international student populations (i.e. Ivy's, Boston University, etc.)

hii...thsi is my first post and i actually wanted to find out my chances of getting into villanova, people say that they have started to become more selective about acceptances. I have a good academic record, but im not a good test taker, so im wondering if that is going to hurt me alot. My GPA is a 3.8, im 39 out of 254 students, junior year i took AP Bio. AP English. and AP US History. THis year I am currently taking AP Chem., AP Spanish, and AP ENglish. But on the SAT and ACT i only received a 1070. I was wondering if ne1 could help me out with ne information on getting in. that would be great : )

As you know your GPA and class rank would not be a problem. As you know your SAT score is low but you shouldn,t rule it out. Remeber the SAT scores you see 1170-1330 is the middle 50%. There are students with higher and lower scores. Make sure you visit and show interest.

thanks....ya i applied early action (to show my interest/ increase my chances)...ive gone on one capus tour...been to an info night held in my area and im going down this weekend for an open house in the college in interested in...im hoping for the best : )

Yea Villanova is an awesome school, beautiful suburban campus, great academics and social life, but really $$$. I'm planning on applying soon.

You have a good chance, i'm not sure what letter grade 3.65 equals, if it's an A you are in really good shape. If not I still think you're in good shape. I'm apply even though my sats arent nearly as good as yours...

yea 3.65 is A-/A (out of 4) .. thanks for the reply best of luck to you!

You have a very good chance at Villanova, you should get in no problem. Are there many applicants from your school. This is a very popular choice at my high school, this and BC. If I don't get into William and Mary, this is where I'll be. Good luck,

Yeah! Same with my school!! Villanova, BC, BU all popular schools... btw I read your post in the what are my chances section and replied with my list.. gl

You definitely should get in here then! Yea, at my school I think like 4 or 5 people will apply here out of 170. I go to a public hs and about half the kids go to 2 year schools and probably 20 or so will go to competitive schools like Nova, BC, U of P, etc...
Michele

lol in my school i think at least 20 are gonna apply to villanova.. i go to a pub hs like 95% of 200 go to 4 year colleges.. its pretty competitive

Lol. Thats cool. My school has 3 towns go to it and one (mine) is pretty affluent, while the other two are a lot less, so I think that has to do with it- people can't afford the 40,000/year. I live in South Jersey about 15 minutes from philadelphia.

I go to catholic HS everyone applies to BC, Villanova, Loyola, Fairfield, Holy Cross and a few of the 1440 people apply to Georgetown, we follow the crowd! LOL

I live in Bergen County, 8 miles outside of NYC.

haha, yea my sister's friend goes to Loyola and she loves it. one senior from our hs went there last year, and no one went to Villanova last year. Our most popular schools were Rutgers, Camden County, and Stockton... Not too many really competitive/private schools.
