Guys, does anyone know when the decisions will come out for the waitlist? I’m worried the PACE and CAP programs will fill up by the time the decision is made…
Also waitlisted, any ideas on what I should do to bump up my chances? Or do I just wait.
Woohoo! Waitlisters unite! I imagine we will find out in a few months (unfortunately)…until then I am absolutely signing up for CAP/PACE.
Few months?
Well I feel like they have to determine who is attending the university and who isn’t. Then again, I’m completely speculating. Hopefully we get some more info soon.
Yea, we’re kind of clueless atm, I didn’t even know they offered places on a waitlist…
Out of 15,335 accepted to UT last year, 7,252 enrolled. UT is the backup plan for many. Lots of schools in the east don’t send their admission decisions til mid March or April 1. If their mothers raised polite children, they will decline acceptances promptly.
A disappointing day. My D was literally one person off of making the top 7%…and for the class of 2016, it’s top 8% that will receive auto admit.
I guess there’s something good about getting waitlisted then. Doesn’t seem like UT offers a waitlist spot to everyone who gets offered CAP/PACE.
UT gives all students until May 1 to pay their enrollment deposit. Students from the waitlist would realistically be offered positions once the May 1 date comes, goes, and if spots still remain. I do remember last year that they did a hard stop at 5pm on May 1, whereas in the past they would keep it open a few days after for stragglers. But basically anyone not confirmed at end of day May 1 is out, and they start pulling from waitlist.
Do you guys know if, if spots open up that will be filled by kids on the waitlist, UT will take the most qualified kids from the waitlist or the ones that entered into the waitlist first?
The UT common data set states that last year 769 were offered the waitlist, 213 accepted being on the waitlist and 18 were admitted. The 2013-2014 stats are even worse.
So what about other schools…? We won’t have time to accept their offer if we wait for the waitlist decision
Based on previous CC threads, it looks like UT accepted 80% of the waitlist in 2010 (a little outdated, I know). Apparently it also looks better if you are in-state
@Mayosauce if you so choose you can enter the CAP/PACE program along with entering the waitlist. I know that doesn’t help for those looking at other universities though…
I’ll call tomorrow
Please fill us in with any new info! Thanks!
I sure hope we don’t get screwed out of good housing if we do end up being accepted.
The date you apply for housing is the date used to determine your priority when offering contracts and when assigning housing, so applying earlier means that you have a better chance of getting one of your top preferences.
^^Housing has nothing to do with admission to the university.
Are you sure it would be after May 1st? I don’t intend on doing PACE, so my only option would be forgetting about UT, because I can’t take the risk of not getting accepted off the wait list if I decline other University offers
Well May 1st is the deadline for those accepted to accept or decline their offer of admission, so I imagine it would be pretty soon after that.
